Hi ,
I am new chair of are Schools PTA and im pretty new to the PTA as well .
This year I was hoping to do a jumble sale in are hall at the same time as are summer fair ( as for we normally sell second hand goods in there any way)
1. do I ask people to donate items ?
2. Do I rent out tables to outside traders / people who want to sell there unwanted goods?
The reason why I was wanting to do a jumble sale instead of the school children donating goods is that we have to ask for them weekly in the run up to the fair and I was thinking with a jumble sale I could just ask for a certain date and time for drop off rather then having to get people to help every week for over a month .
Thank you

I do a village jumble sale once a year and we advertise locally, paper/radio etc. We have about 10 of us helping and all put the word out and collect what we can. We also open the hall for a couple of hours the evening before so people can drop stuff off while we set it all out ready.
Just ask anyone for donations, people are usually helpful.
On the day we charge 20p admission adults only/kids free and have a mad hour selling. Then another hour packing up, we take to tip/charity shops/other jumbles. Usually raise between £150 and £300 for little work and great fun.
We do tea/coffee too.
Personally I would keep car boot sellers to a separate event/day
Good luck with your event!total wins 2013 £5500 2014 £7500 2015 £23,900 2016 £10,650 2017 £13,040 2018 £10,620 2019 £10,115 2020 £3970.00

At my kids PTA they used to pay 50p per kilo of donations, although a lot of people would just donate without wanting anything back for it.0
