Personally if I want to buy expensive toilet paper I go to Waitrose
Some warranties can be worthwhile but typically the type discussed in this thread have many limitations and loopholes. You'll probably find that the type of failures that make you consider a warranty in the first place may not be covered.0 -
Convicted fraudster peddling worthless policies.
He would have done well at Madoff.0 -

I am thinking about taking out an extended warranty with my next car purchase. Warrantywise, with Quentin Wilson, have a massive marketing campaign and give lots of information on their site about what makes them different.
Does anybody have experience of using them, or their competitors? Is it better to go without and just budget for repairs?
Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
I would not they just do not pay, just had a 100% genuine claim thought it was bullet proof, they refused, SEE THEM IN COURT SOON, dont trust them, I will have my day in court and let the judge decide.0 -
just had a bulletproof claim on my 13000 mile car, they refused and I have history and could not believe this, i would not trust them at all warrantywise simply do not pay keep your money0

I took out a warranty on my car immediately after the manufacturers warranty expired, included wear and tear on what they called a 'Platinum' policy. Just had the clutch fail with no prior indication of failure such as slip or judder and WW have refused to pay. I thought I was covered under wear and tear or at least consequential damage since failure also damaged the flywheel (DMF). Total cost in the region of £2000. I've followed the complaints procedure and the final decision now is with Quentin Willson. If the answer is still No.... I will go to the small claims court. They say no 'Weasel Words' but that is all I get from them. A very unhappy customer!!!:(:(:( I should to be fair point out that they have offered 20% of the cost as a 'goodwill gesture' - this doesn't even cover the cost of the DMF.0

 It's not a warranty, it's a "sudden, unexpected & permanent loss" insurance policy. So for example if you hear a grinding noise from a wheel that turns out to be a wheel bearing starting to fail that's not covered. Perhaps the wheel needs to fall off before they'll consider it a "failure". Bitter? You bet! Wish I'd just put the bank instead & that's what you should do too.0

Not quite true, it is not an insurance policy, if it were you could go to the ombudsman or FSA.
Check the policy, there is a bit to say they are regulated, and a bit to say the policy is not regulated.
So it is down to QW or the small claims court.

Remember, the house always wins. Yes, you might get lucky and be covered for an expensive failure. But for every £1000 they pay out for a major breakdown, you can be sure there's £2000 going back in, in the form of premiums.
Keep the money, bank it, and find a good mechanic. I work 7 days a week as an amateur mechanic working on a very specific spectrum of cars that I know inside out, and most repairs I've done have cost just a fraction of the cost of one of these warranties.0 -
Quentin Wilson told me to buy a BMW 520i with 100K on it about 20 years ago on Top Gear, he promised I would not be disappointed.
I did and I wouldn't drive any other car now, I'm on my 3rd. Hurrah!0
