Btw, I'm very limited to what I get in this area too (very rural Scotland, we don't even have mains gas here either
).
Oh and I wouldn't touch O2 Access with someone else's bargepole.
I don't even know if you are wanting to moveit's kinda shot way off what the Original Post was about but have you looked at plus.net. Don't go on their site and be all WOW that's cheap, it's very incredibly limited areas, but their normal broadband, whilst not uber cheap, is pretty decent, price wise, speed wise, and obviously my experience, customer service wise too. Including small things like freephone for tech support etc.(18 a month for 60gb peak iirc) As I say, by far not the cheapest!

I'm with Plus.net now on their 60 gig offering.
The 60 gig was reached and passed and going by usage so far I'd be paying an extra £5 per day and a half until the month is up unless changes are made. Which they will be!Herman - MP for all!0 -

I don't suppose you are in a Sky network area? Don't know what they are like as an ISP, but you can get unlimited for £7.50 if you are in their network are.
(Btw, have you ever enquired about leaving Plus? I do so once a year and haven't paid full whack for at least three or four years). There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

o.O I've never maxed my 60gig lol but been close, moderate most downloading overnight, but still streaming takes up a lot for me.
You can get a complete breakdown of your usage btw (regards the first op question re xbox) it lists gaming separately
https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php Log in, the go down to "Allowance used this week" at the bottom, and click "Usage Breakdown" underneath that. That will separate current months usage. Under definitions "Gaming" covers Online multiplayer gaming e.g. World of Warcraft, XBox Live and PlayStation Network etc.
Which will answer the xbox questions. Then you can also see what takes the most.
Unfortunately if you're a heavy family user, then actually 2gb a day isn't a huge amount, and can be easily taken up with regular usage, browsing, emails, watching vids etc.
btw. did you know you can also stop it charging you extra, over the limit. I've set mine to zero amount, so if I hit 60gb, I just have reduced service, line speed limited to 256kb/s until my next billing date. Might give the hint to cut the downloading of stuff to kids/others if they're having to surf with that!0 -

No, we're not and tbh even if we were I'm not sure I'd go with them tbh. Son is with them and has had nothing but trouble with them over a range of issues. He's tied presently but is leaving as soon as he can.
We've only been with plus.net for around 7 months since we moved here but will certainly consider the leaving/potential discount aspect in future.o.O I've never maxed my 60gig lol but been close, moderate most downloading overnight, but still streaming takes up a lot for me.

I did know about how to see the usage, but thought that the online gaming was different to the actual downloading of maps etc iyswim. The gaming itself isn't really a high drain (which is unfortunate because I really wanted to blame it on that).
I did consider setting it as you suggested but then it would affect me too.
I'm presently considering just blocking various things from the router temporarily so the only thing accessing the net will be the main pc (i.e. me) and occasionally whoever else asks to use it.
Appreciate all the advice, thanks.Herman - MP for all!0 -

We're on Plusnet 60gb too.
Family of 5, 3 of us are heavy gamers and I tend to hit Iplayer rather a lot, but we still manage to come in under the 60gb a month due to the fact that plusnet internet doesn't count your usage between 12pm and 7am.
Everyone is under strict instructions that all game updates, downloads, demos etc need to be done during those hours. Some of the game updates can be 2GB plus so it really adds up fast.
We have ours set so it doesn't go over the 60Gb, it will just cut off, so they try really hard to stick to the rules as the thought of no internet for a few days until the usage resets gets them panicking!0 -

It wouldn't be no internet - Plus just cut back your speed to 256kb/s for the remainder of the period if you go over your limit. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
