At last, the baby boomers will share the pain

Tax em till their falsies chatter. State old age benefit is costing tthe nation a fortune. Why should they bleed the nation to death just so they can live comfortably? Want to live to 100? Pay for it yourself.
You wont mind then when a pensioner takes your job because He/She is willing to work for less money than you, and because they have taken your job at a lower rate of pay they probably will be earning it tax free.If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.0 -
You know what I regret in this, more than anything else? That we, the "baby boomer" generation has spawned such a generation of mean-spirited, venomous, self-gratifiying whingers that post here and on other boards.
Our parents were born just before/during WW1, they grew up during the 30s Depression, they fought in WWII, and brought us into the world. After that, through their hard work, and encouraging our generation, they (mostly) enjoyed a gentle twilight.
We (naively) thought we could do the same. We brought our children up to have the best, we worked for them, remortmaged homes for them - and for what? To have the bile that has spouted from fora such as these, castigating us for the fat cats' greed, claiming that we've " plunged their arms into the honey jar and gorged on the sweet sweet goodness of final salary pensions, house price inflation, and generous un-rationed healthcare".
Who brought you up, Rugged Toast? Wolves?? Are you not tainted by such "greed"?
I for one, humbly apologise. For having giving your generation the best that money could buy, mortgaged or unmortgaged. For your holidays in the sun, for your first cars, your deposits on your first homes, for the childcare that we now give you - we thought, lovingly, and appreciated. It obviously isn't.
Your opinion of the older generation speaks volumes about your values. I just hope that you never get old, never lose the value of your money, never have to lose your health, never have to depend upon anyone else. Because there won't be anyone there.
I can foresee the day that the Chancellor will announce that the heating allowance is abolished - but upon the date of their 69th birthday, all pensioners will receive a one-way ticket to Switzerland.
May you all reap what you are sowing.0 -
Very well and eloquently put, Thorsoak. You've hit the nail bang on the head.0

I am sorry for accusing you of gorging on all the goodness thorasak. I'll look forward to delivery of the new car soon, the house deposit will come in very useful I am sure, I like Malaysia but a package deal to Phuket would do nicely, what else... oh yes what time shall I drop my kid off!0 -

Sorry, how many over 55s do you see flying commercial jets?
As for that other nonsense above, just wait till the lot protecting you all is out of the commons. Retribiution will be swift and without mercy.
Ive never had a free car, nor free childcare, nor even a house deposit. All I saw were greedy boomers pushing up prices to unsustainable levels whilst many around were withdrawing the equity to go on round the world cruises and paying for morgans.
The boomers' legacy is laid bare in the national debt statistics, the annual cost of old age benefits and the rediculous size of the NHS budget.0 -

Says it all ....too darn lazy to get any of it yourself! But sorry, the pot is empty ...you and your friends were being so greedy that you broke my pension pot and its all dribbled away.
It is the ATTITUDE that galls me.0 -

Nothing to do with the drunken young people who clutter up A & E departments, and the 30-somethings in hospital with acute liver disease, having over-indulged in alcohol??0 -
look at the nhs budget stats split into age of reciepient.0

It is morally right that the current lot of pensioners should share some of the burden. Anyone read 'The Pinch' by David Willetts? even though i don't agree with his political views, he makes a good case for a slight redistribution of wealth away from the baby boomers.
Stuff like tuition fees / student loans is alien to the current pensioners who went to uni ( they may have received grants and even transport allowances)...0
