  • What are you talking about ?

If I start claiming my stamp, who knows ? In a few years or maybe months time I will get a letter saying I own some Government department money, you know what these people are like.

Well ive claimed jsa and to date i have not had a letter saying ive been overpaid, think you need to stop reading conspiracy theories.

If your honest with them then you shouldnt get overpaid but if all your doing is gettign your stamp paid then you cant get overpaid afaik.

tbh i don't think my generation will ever get to retire unless you have money in the bank to live on. Really can't see it happening at all.

But the whole tax system is complicated, i know several people who don't have a clue what there being paid. Once worked with one woman who didn't have a clue whether she was being paid right and never checked it (was with an agency). Thing is unless its something you talk about you might never find out.

But OP basically you pay stamp to get your pension, like i said before i'm 25 and i don't think i'll end up retiring as there is no money in the pot and can't see it changing in honesty. I'll give the pension system about another 20 years then it will have to change totally. But we pay into it to get it back when were older (maybe 75 by the time we retire, if were lucky), if its not paid you will still get a basic pension, but it will be reduced based on what you have already paid in as a percentage

  • Trust me, ,they will probably over pay my stamp or,

tell me I was never entitled to it and ask for their stamp money back, who knows ?
  • OP,

I don't think you are grasping the fact that NI credit is not paid you you in any way right now so there is no way you could be forced to pay it back, it is credited towards your pension so you aren't short on your contribution when you need your pension. Even if they made a mistake and over credited you it would be a paper work issue and nothing to do with actually money as like I said it doesn't get paid to you now.
  • Trust me, knowing these people they could still overpay my pension fund and then ask for it back , even when I reach pension age.

OP that's rubbish. They never ask anyone to repay NI credits. If you don't want to claim them then don't. It's later if you don't have enough NI years for a pension that you will lose out.

You're an idiot and a snob. Jobcentre below you is it?

They don't overpay stamps. It's done on a weekly / fortnightly basis when you sign on. You go in, tell them about your efforts job hunting, sign the dotted line, they tap away on the keyboard and you get your NI contribution paid.

Seriously though, if seeing fellow members of the human race and sitting on chairs that others have used is too much for you to cope with then don't bother - you'll hate the job centre (just be sure to mention your phobia to your next employer!)
  • macintosh - if you're not entitled to anything by signing on at the job centre then don't bother going.

I signed off, I had two small children to take there occasionally and got bored of going as I never got any help or found them useful.

No point worrying too much at your age about NI contributions, lets face it, the government move the goalposts every now and then and you might get run over by a bus tomorrow then it wouldn't matter would it!
