Landlord disposed of clothes by mistake!

She actually had some very good clothes in the bags. 10 items of clothes in a black bin liner? There were a lot more than that. There were no big winter coats or men's suits!
I will send her your suggestion about the bank statements - thank you.0 -
Does your daughter have lots of girlfriends ? If so round them all up and empty their handbags. Must be able to 'find' some receipts in those bottomless bags!Ps I sold 2 jackets and 2 jumpers on Ebay for £380, all second hand and that was cheap, so who knows what it was worth. And if you pop into a charity shop in central London you can get all kinds of designer stuff, Armani suits, Boss coats, amazing what the rich think are old cloths. My friend makes a decent bit of money doing something very similar. You just need to know your designers !0

In this person's position I would be writing a nice, concise letter pointing out that the items to be removed were X, Y and Z which were placed conveniently on the table. The black bags of clothes placed elsewhere were never intended to be taken away and were not discussed at all.
The person is extremely disappointed that the black bags were removed and disposed of by mistake but they were all the person's precious personal items. The value of which was approximately X pounds and the landlord's offer of a mere £50 of compensation for almost a full wardrobe lost is considered extremely derisory. The landlord is therefore invited to amend their offer to something much more realistic.
If they were my own clothes I'd be holding out for at least a grand.0 -
ditto !and dont mention that they were going to be sold on ebay as they will just say you didn't want them anyway !0

She needs to list out the good stuff, item by item. Separate out any designer items.
I wouldn't worry about proof of purchase, except for the designer items, assuming that these cost hundreds each.
The ordinary high street stuff is worth buggah all on ebay after expenses. So, it really doesn't matter whether there were 10 TopShop blouses per bag or 20.
You really need to help your daughter manage her expectations, rather than some of the people here, who just hate landlords and don't care about your daughter (or honesty, some of them). No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Oooh, I love that! Conspiracy to commit fraud. An easy few arrests for the Police, what with all those different credit card numbers on the receipts.

so, if I have understood you correctly, you sold 4 items on eBay for about £100 each? Was this designer stuff that you carefully selected at a charity shop for selling on?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Hi OP not sure if you've read this since what happened did you reach a resolution with the LL ?A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."0
