I haven't applied yet. I haven't really lied. I will be doing maximium 2k miles for the year, wont be travelling far, just college, work, into town that's all.

He'll be driving the car also, but mainly only for long road trips, like from bham - london, bham - scotland etc.

On the policy, i said i am the MAIN, driver.

But you aren't though are you, really? The main driver is the one who does the most mileage. You're not the one who does the most mileage.

If you lie to the Insurers, they have a habit of making investigations when a claim happens especially when there are certain items of data which jump out (Yours will).

If they discover it, they will void the policy, possibly keep the premiums. If the accident is your fault, they will normally pay the other driver but would then try to recover their entire outlay from you.

With regards to your brother, they will record on a central database that they have cancelled or voided a policy. He will then need to declare it to insurers for motor, home, life, pet etc etc insurance for (Currently) ever. This will make it with impossible for him to obtain insurance or more likely very very expensive. If he does not declare the cancellation / voiding then they will probably void the policy when he has a claim.

They might also record on a central database that financial service companies eg insurers, mortgage companies, loan companies and banks etc can and do check. That you tried to defraud them
  • But you aren't though are you, really? The main driver is the one who does the most mileage. You're not the one who does the most mileage.

Ahh, i see what your saying..

probably not worth doing then i guess, unless i can predict the future, where i'll know for a fact i won't need to claim.
  • See there you go again, why insult people ?

At least you managed to write a whole post without any spelling mistakes - well done.

Now if you cannot afford the insurance why try to manipulate the system to try and reduce the premium. You will eventually get caught out and be far worse off than if you had just disclosed all material facts on your application.

Find another insurance company, submit a proposal when you have passed and ask if there is a discount for having a "black box" fitted. This is now being done by some insurance companies as it records the way in which the car is driven. It may help you reduce the premium level.
  • if i were an insurance company i'll be glad to cover you for nearly £40k knowing what you put here and when you need to claim tell you off you trott as you failed to give true accurate details.

MAIN DRIVER NOT YOU, car to be kept at 2 different addresses both with different risk catagories possibly and different parking scenarios.
believe me you need to adjust your mileage everyone and anyone knows that 2k a year is a second car sunday to church and back only mileage. just going back and forth picking kids up from school and going to local shop puts more than 2k on my clock a year i do 1200 miles a year just in hospital appointments and i give myself an extra 2k miles when taking out any policy for unexpected usuage.

choice of car dont help corsa is a propper money maker for insurers its so common.

    think out the box.

try not to insult members your behaviour shows your immaturity.

get some knwoladge behind you about insurance try martins tips on getting cheaper insurance.

experienced named driver anyone over the age of 30 clean license married, working, moderate - infrequent user.

main driver occupation - student of course.

security (how much can you invest) private tracker(not insurance tracker)? thatcham 2 immobiliser or combination of thatcham 1 alarm and immobilier.

unmodified (dont even bother with modded vehicles just putting non manufacturer alloys on your car will sky rocket your premium)

as must is not to have the V5c (log book) in someone elses name, if its yours then register it to you.

if you car is to be shared DONT HAVE A BLACK BOX FITTED like above mentioned if they rag the !!!!!! outta your car you will pay dearly!! as the box dont know who is driving at that time, and the insurers will not care for your argument that you werent driving you pay end of it will be your responsablity as an owner to ensure that whoever drives it looks after it.

18 years old and cannot even spell.

Exactly what does "arrive at poinents usally 10 mins early".

Carry on like that and you will not need a car as no employer will give you a job.

I am still intrigued as to what that qoute is supposed to say
  • I think it means arrive at appointments 10 minutes early.Maybe the insurers like punctuality?
Presumably it means setting off for appointments 10 minutes early so not rushing to get there, never seen this included on any of my insurance literature though.

To answer your question, no, its a silly idea. You've just got a quote based on a completely inaccurate profile.

With regard to this 10 minutes early thing. I think the OP is talking about one of these black box policies - they ask questions like that about your driving habits.
