"3" awful upgrades

Has anyone had issues with upgrades on three?

I'm at the end of a 24month contract and can access the 'upgrade' part of the site, but get barely any choice, and what I do get is expensive.

Saw the HTC Sensation XE with;

250mb internet
300 mins
5000 texts

for £25/month

Which seems like a good deal? can't get it anywhere on the upgrade site though?! Thought you were meant to get better deals if you were a current customer?

  • I've not been on 3 myself but I have heard from a lot of people that they have had poor upgrades.

It would seem that 3 save all of their good deals for new customers, to bring them in.

For £26 you can get unlimited data and 500 minutes.

Only if you are a very big money-waster.

I can't find that deal on the sensation xe?

Porting a number across from sim>P&G>new sim sounds like a lot of hassle?

It's £27 if you go to AM directly, but you can get £45 cashback through TCB.

Yeah the deals you can get through 3rd parties (buymobilephones) can be a lot better - and the thread about them on here suggests they're ok.

I remember this happening last time I upgraded, they just refuse to give you the same deals on the website and try and get you to go on a rubbish one.

Existing customers never get good deals. Invariably, due to the current financial climate, people are going for cheaper contracts at upgrade time.

New customers are more cash in the bank for these companies.

As an existing customer never think that your service provider cares about you. Negotiate a better deal for upgrade or shop around and vote with your feet. As a new customer elsewhere you're likely to get better deals and you can port your existing number over (if you care about that).

I am in the same place. We have all our contracts on 3 as we get free calls to each other. I replaced my DD with a samsungs2 but could only do it by getting a contract with affordable mobiles changing her 3 contract no to a payg and then back to the new contract it took quite a bit of calling them to achieve -but got it in the end.

I now want to change the other DD to a Samsung S2 and wonder if anyone has had any luck with 3 customer services in getting them to price match?
