Just to clarify, do you fulfill the full terms of receiving IB overseas anyway?

    Incapacity Benefit

You must tell your local Jobcentre Plus office or jobcentre if you are going abroad. If your stay abroad is temporary, you can receive Incapacity Benefit for the first 26 weeks of your stay, if on the day of departure:
    • you have been continuously incapable of working for at least six months
    • your incapacity has lasted less than six months
    • you have gone abroad for treatment of an illness or disability that began before you left
You may be able to receive Incapacity Benefit abroad for more than 26 weeks if:
    • your stay abroad is temporary
    • you get Attendance Allowance
    • you get Disability Living Allowance
For more information, contact your local Jobcentre Plus office or jobcentre.
    Going abroad permanently

You may be able to get a benefit for incapacity if you move to a country that has a reciprocal agreement with the UK.

I can confirm that you will be transferred to ESA at some stage.

The following thread deals specifically with France, but you might find it helpful

Thanks for the link - I think its the only other one online right now with regards the changes - if you read it they are all couples or married etc - I'm here alone, on my own - solo. No dependents - no kids etc just cats.

Also I know I am to be transferred from IB to ESA - i am aware of that - having read about it on the internet with not formal instruction from the DWP.

But thanks, nevertheless, for advising me

i got a letter in mid december asking me to call them as they did not hold a telephone number for me, i called them, had a form to fill in a week later with 4 weeks to return it, got a medical about 3 weeks after that, so its a pretty quick process, dont leave you time to prepare anything, not sure how they would contact you, on my medical the doctor ommited half of my disability and i was awarded wrag ( which as you state is only for 12 months) . not sure if this information is of any use to you was just pointing out how quickly they now move.

Thanks Harleg - I actually called the DWP today on my mobile to ensure they would call me / leave a message or text me that they informed me they were sending the new ESA50. I was told (though I was due a new test in Feb) that the backlog of new esa tests overides that backlog of incapacity Benfits tests and I could not be ensured of when they would contact me. Just to ....wait..........&..........See.

So HeyHo!! There we go, or there I go.........just waiting...................................................................
    ............................................................................
    ........&......................................................seeing!:)

I did get confirmation of my rights as to taking the benefit abroad back when my Mum passed away.

It did take another 5 years to sell the property???

The simple fact is that no-one can tell you what you should do, no-one has the required magic ball to tell what is going to happen.

I am sorry that you didn't get the help you wanted here. As you say, an ex-pat forum might have people who have been in a similar situation.
