So who trains these people in other payroll systems, I have seen so many admin positions asking for sage or payroll experience yet have only seen courses in sage.

All accounting packages are the same, functionally. Point this out on your CV. All accounting packages. It's a blag, not a lie. Namecheck a couple.

t's easy to be negative about everything and a lot harder to be willing to be up for trying to do something positive. Good for the OP for being the latter.
I am more than willing to try ANYTHING on the WP but they have offered me no help. Like I say they have told me there is nothing they can tell me.

In my first payroll job I had one days hand over then I was on my own with minimal help from the FC. Then in my 2nd payroll job I had a few weeks hand over with the person leaving. No courses.

I could probably learn off my own back too but a course is something to put on a CV.

I think remaining positive is the key, I will prepare the questions I want to ask and what help I would like and see where things go.

Sure beats an adviser who submits me to a job just to tick boxes.

Very funny! I have asked what they can do for me and I was told nothing. You think I am making that up think that if you want but I have written to to MP's to ask them what they think the WP should be doing for all of us as they have no idea. I have seen my adviser twice in 8 months and this is meant to help people out of work and now she's leaving tomrrow and she has no idea if they are even replacing her. What joy.

They may offer the courses, but in my experience the courses are universally awful. Perhaps you've gotten lucky and ended up at the provider that isn't just a barely concealed scam.

The courses are just the same crap as was on NEW DEAL etc anything they can do to show big brother they are watching you and positively helping you so as to justify their own wage bill.

They must be near to going bust taking into consideration their over heads and current fantastic rate of success:D

When i do get a job, i will be sending the letter from hell to my provider along with cameron and his clowns.

Initial opinion is that it doesn't sound half as bad as people make out.

I want to do some training, interview coaching etc which they can offer me.

On the work experience side my adviser said if I wanted to try something new I could go for it, eventually I want a career with horses/animals so it is a possible to get work experience in those areas.

Apparently they also offer relaxation courses etc too, wonder if they will pay for driving lessons :A

You need to ask them for help and badger them for it, they get paid to get you into work and if that requires letting you do courses they will do it, spoke to someone else on it and he struggled to even be interview ready he said they have helped him.

How often are people called for appointments? I know they can call you in daily but I know that tends to be reserved for those clearly not looking and pulling a fast one.

I know that but if I can get interview coaching and some help towards more qualifications etc then it will help to get me ahead of others....hopefully.

I'm remaining positive because I want a job and want to do things to improve my skills.

    You seem a little naive.

But good luck, let us know how you get on.
