Referred to the work program today

Had an appointment today and have been referred to the work program which.

Initial opinion is that it doesn't sound half as bad as people make out.

I want to do some training, interview coaching etc which they can offer me.

On the work experience side my adviser said if I wanted to try something new I could go for it, eventually I want a career with horses/animals so it is a possible to get work experience in those areas.

Apparently they also offer relaxation courses etc too, wonder if they will pay for driving lessons :A

I was initially worried but not so much now and I am looking forward to seeing what help is available.

Try if for yourself and then decide. Most people on it think its a waste of time and legalised bullying. Ie you must attend or we stop your money.

Go ahead then, dosent mean you will get a job.

It might be it might not be. In my opinion w/e wasnt easy for the provider to find and often they couldnt be bothered. Even if you do you still may not get a job.

Enjoy it then. Just remember they cant get you a job.

You need to ask them for help and badger them for it, they get paid to get you into work and if that requires letting you do courses they will do it, spoke to someone else on it and he struggled to even be interview ready he said they have helped him.

How often are people called for appointments? I know they can call you in daily but I know that tends to be reserved for those clearly not looking and pulling a fast one.

I know that but if I can get interview coaching and some help towards more qualifications etc then it will help to get me ahead of others....hopefully.

I'm remaining positive because I want a job and want to do things to improve my skills.

I have been told they can't help me. There is no help they can give me, final. They told me there is nothing we can tell you that you aren't already doing.

I am 'interview ready' and can not believe anyone wouldn't be!

Exactly... people who actually believe they will 'get a job' from it are idiots...

WP = Waste of time, and if anyone disagrees then oh dear indeed

but still enjoy it, because to me sounds like a 'lol'

no matter how much training you get, you WILL NEVER get a job from it.

  • They may offer the courses, but in my experience the courses are universally awful. Perhaps you've gotten lucky and ended up at the provider that isn't just a barely concealed scam.
  • They promise you all this stuff to get you on it. A little later there will be no work with horses available and it will be 'nevermind because we have this opportunity to learn how to clean toilets and if you dont do it we stop your money'.
