  • It was your right of way initially so the car shouldn't have pulled out.
Once it did though you shouldn't have ridden behind a reversing car.If they were blind/inconsiderate enough to pull out then what's the chance of them being observant enough to see a bike in ther blindspot when backing up?

    If they were blind
In that case I hope they wouldn't be driving. :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Yummy Mummys' on School run, I hate them, most live close enough to the school to either walk or cycle, they park where they want, without taking any notice of small things like double yellows, pedestrian crossings or zig zag areas. The woman should really have waited however in my experience in Oxford I it's hard to decide who's the more ignorant, cyclists or motorists, at least car, van and bus drivers will allow you to reverse into a parking space however the cyclists just charge through on the inside, the same with vehicles turning left, they just charge through on the inside even though there are give way line on the cycle lanes wher they meet the junction, and I see something of that in the OP, someone struggling to get out because of the traffic so she made the move, it's obvious from the OP that what she did wasn't going to cause an accident as the OP stoped well in time and knew full well what was going on, sorry no sympathy if everyone was a little less ignorant on the road, driving and cycling would be a lot more pleasurable
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

left side of the road is blocked with parked cars for school pickup,
Never trust a parent on the school run. I live opposite a school. Mob rule is the only law.

She just looked at him smugly and said to him 'That, young man, is what you can do when you have money'
Wrong punchline. In the original she says "That's what you can do when you're old and have cheap insurance"

Is this in the Highway Code somewhere?
Yes, but the highway code doesn't seem to apply to mums on the school run. They're a law unto themselves.
