I have two stoves, one small and one large and I find whisky staves are great in the small one
All American White oak soaked in bourbon  and only £6 a bulk bag :T
I use a wood charity place for logs for my big stove.
I have had the stoves for 4 years and it took a few years of hits and misses before finding the best sources for wood fuel.
What are the experiences of others ?

despite being told otherwise, Pine, specifically leyland cypress. been burning it for 2years and only burn it really hot after the wood has had a full year in the garage to dry. once a week, blow through with a hot coal burn, and not got much in the way of ash up the lined flue. not had any of the problems with creasote many go on about and take plenty of leyland off our local friendly arb who cant normally shift the stuff. burns quite quick, but cut intombig chunks gives good hot ash just like denser and heavier oak.
its a dual fuel stove btw.0
