Not quite true woodys. According to the current Portland brochure the baggage allowance is 20kg, as long as you are on a ThomsonFly flight. Looking at their schedules I'd say at least 95% of their holidays use ThomsonFly (which is of course the Tui airline).0 -

You are so right about this - I've always had to price match my holiday, its always dearer instore, this is why i've complained to the Advertising Standards Agency as its clearly misleading, though they are considering it at the minute, more pressure the better!!0 -
It can be cheaper to use the shop! We were about to make a very late booking on-line then found that the shop could rebate the "Ticket on Departure" fee of £15 each. Saved £30!!0

It actually works out cheaper for the holiday I've picked to do it the package way and use the code for £150 off.
I have tried going into a few of the branches and asking them to do price beating but they only do price matching, I was hoping to book through a branch to pay a lower deposit as online they ask for £520, but the branches couldn't match the price. I rang the online number and they said they can do the price match and accept a £300 deposit so looks like I will have to do that.
Another way - I made two bookings as you can use the code again. With two kids aged 11 and 14 it worked out cheaper for two rooms than a family room after all the add ons. After making sure there was space on flights and hotels (asked for a price for 8 in 4 rooms and it lets you go no further if no space) then rang up and asked to make 2 bookings said it was me and my brother with kids, both had a voucher (same number) then got discount twice still cheaper even though all priced as adults.
I booked in Jan so that code ran out 31 Jan but it sounds like another code is now available!0 -
I have just tried one holiday and priced it up all ways
2 adults traveling to Tenerife 30th March to the Los Gigantis hotel
Package price £1098
BYO price £876 ( transfers on top)
Thomsons Hotel then finding a cheaper flight £795 (transfers on top)
Thomsons Hotel ...finding cheaper flight but flexiable by 2 days £620 (transfers on top)
If doing this you have real flexabilty you can get 14 nights cheaper than a 7 night package 10th April -24th April £806 package same date £1,468
Not a bad difference for same holidayIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Have booked via the Thomson website, tried going into 3 Thomson branches to get them to beat the web price with the £150 discount off aswell but they couldn't.
I priced it separately aswell but was still cheaper booking the package.
2 adults, 2 children (13 & 6) going to San Miguel Hotel in Ibiza in September, 1 week all inclusive, £1,054.If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

Can anyone please advise me where to find the ''discount code'' please?0

I read in last Sunday's newspapers that often it's cheaper to put children as adults when booking. If you put them as children you get the under occupancy charge and the' not adult' charge etc etc
Trading standards are looking into this practice of overcharging of children. They're taking it up with Thomson who were the main culprits.0
