Couple of thousand funds available. All with different risks and aims. You havent given enough information to give an answer and anyone giving an answer as advice based on what you have said so far would be leaving themselves open to prosecution. You may think that is unlikely but there is someone lurking that has reported information to the FSA in the past, albeit unsuccessfully.

I can give some suggestions for you to consider in your research. Don't stick all your money in one fund. Spread it across a few sectors/funds with a spread that averages out to your risk profile. Asset allocation like this is better than picking one fund which may be in the top performance sector once every 5-7 years. Assuming you are going DIY with the provider, pick a fund supermarket which has free switching between funds and a decent fund range. If you plan to take withdrawals in the future (i.e. to supplement income), then use an ISA provider that allows that. One of the biggest online fund supermarkets doesnt allow that. Also the different fund supermarkets have different deals on from time to time. Check to see if the charges are different with the different supermarkets.
