I have no idea about the authenticity of the products but would like to point out that Mac have started printing directly on to the box the shade name rather than a sticker.

As above, I bought an eyeshadow from the counter in Harvey Nichols last week, and the barcode was printed onto the box, so maybe this is what they are doing now?
  • I have bought quite a lot of MAC products recently from CheapSmells and have been 100% satisfied with my purchasers. I have checked my items against the same items purchased at MAC in Selfridges and have found no difference. There is also a gap in the `M` :j

  • Hi

The company's asked us to post a response on its behalf. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the Forum

We are sorry that some of our customers aren’t happy with their recent M.A.C. purchases. All the products on the site are 100% genuine and whilst we are not an authorized distributor of M.A.C. these lines were all bought from an authorized distributor and are not old or counterfeit. On rare occasions there can be quality issues with any product which we would love the opportunity to address. You can find our contact details here https://www.cheapsmells.com/contact.php

  • Cheapsmells are either lying or are actually really under the impression that their products are genuine.

I bought three lipsticks from this site and was very excited due to their statement that the products were real and other people saying that they had been really impressed with the makeup.

They are definite fakes. I'm not a MAC junkie, prior to my purchase I only had 4 MAC lipsticks but as soon as I got my package I could tell they were fakes for a number of reasons:

The smell is awful. I have 2 MAC satin lipsticks and they have lovely smells, but the ones i got smelled so fake and plasticky.

The product in the tube is actually thinner than a genuine lipstick.

The packaging is lighter in colour (more grayish) and seems to have more sparkles, as well as feeling lighter in weight.

They are NOT true to colour at all. The M.A.C red is very very sheeny - more like a cremesheen but worse, and smeared everywhere, and looked cheap. Craving was more like a hot pink colour on my lips whilst Brave was again very very creamy and smeared everywhere too, and was much lighter than it should be.

I never post on sites but I felt I had to on this occasion, especially since a friend went out and bought me two of the genuine ones after she saw how disappointed i was with the ones from cheapsmells and i could then be absolutely sure.

I have the Genuine Craving and MAC red lipsticks now, and when swatched the MAC red is similar in colour, but the fake looks oily.
The Craving on my skintone is much more medium-pink and when swatched on my hand, there is a noticeable difference between the colours. If anybody would like to see the differences i can upload pictures if requested to.

The genuine MAC red did not smear, stayed on for hours, barely transferred after eating and drinking and i didnt even need to wear a lipliner.

So be warned. Cheapsmells MAC products are fake. They may be under the impression that they are real, however, i think that they should go back and check who they are actually purchasing from.
  • *****I have genuine Brave and MAC red sorry. Brave is more medium pink on my lips.
  • I am aware this thread has since died. But back when Cheap Smells started putting MAC make-up on their site, I bought three blushes. I own a genuine mineralize skin finish, studio fix concealer and pro long wear concealer which I bought from my local MAC counter. Before buying from CS I had never owned a MAC blush... And when they arrived I suspected fake and posted on here straight away. But lots of people swore by Cheap Smells and told me 'old stock', just as others have said here too. So I kept the blushes.

But since coming across this thread tonight I now realize my initial instincts were true. Those blushes were fake. I am so glad to have found this and now they'll be going straight in the bin.

I have also noticed that CS no longer stock MAC, which is good news.
I will say that I have purchased other genuine items from the site and will still use it (although I feel a little ashamed to say that after what has happened) after all, they have my money now. I have been happy with the other purchases made on Cheap Smells but will be cautious from now on and will 100% do my research in future. I've learned a lesson here.
    Toto, I
    Don't think we're in
    Kansas anymore...
