Cheapsmells.com fake mac products!!

I am a huge fan of Mac products and when i saw money saving expert post advertising bargain mac products on cheap smells.com I couldn't resist.

My package arrived and when i saw the products wasn't the same colour as shown online.

I was distraught when i compared the products to my existing stuff and the packaging seemed cheaper quality and the printing on the makeup was different text and texture!

I shall upload pictures later today to show you the difference

The lipstick seemed a cheaper quality when applied to the lips;

the eyeshadows are loosing in powder !

the blushers has less pigments!

My wife uses cheap smells, are they based in Guernsey?.She buys Decleor products and has had no probs at all.
  • Are you sure they are fake and it's not just because they are old stock? I've not had problems with them before, but because they want to sell cheaper items they often sell older or discontinued stock.

Here is a link that shows you how to tell if mac eyeshadows are fake. http://joannefaith.com/2010/02/01/spot-fake-mac-products/
  • I came here today just to say I ordered two "Mac" eyeshadows from Cheapsmells after seeing the offer on this website, one of them arrived this morning. I had doubts straight away that the eyeshadow was genuine because the word "Mac" was misprinted - it had a small gap in the middle of the M!

Then I looked into the matter further, and guides I found online say that genuine eyeshadows have the barcode on a label on the box and the colour written on a sticker on the box - neither should be printed. And lo and behold! Both of mine are printed on the box.

Also, the batch code reads A10, which means the first batch of 2010 - two years old. We've been scammed I'm sure, at least with normal fakes they are usually very cheap, these were almost full price!
  • Ok so I've seen pictures of genuine Mac eyeshadows with a gap in the M, so I've contacted Mac about the packaging and batch code. I'll let you know what they say.

I've had an aftershave product from them that had the seals removed, when I complained they sent me a replacement that they had attempted to make look like the seal was intact. That being said I'm pretty sure the actual product was genuine, just weird.

Over the past 3 - 4 years I use have Cheapsmells a lot both for Decleor and Mac products and others (I buy in the offical places too) and have never had a problem with them, sometime its an older version of the packaging but the products are 100% the same.

Their customer service is great too so why dont you contact them and explain your dilemma, I'm sure you'll get a refund.

Hi I contacted MAC, they sent me this email:

    Dear Sarah,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest in M.A.C.

While pleased you enjoy M.A.C products, we regret to learn of your disappointment with a recent purchase. We would like to explain that our products are only distributed for sale at our authorised retail store accounts, or at our free-standingstores. Products purchased at one of our authorised accounts are genuine M.A.C merchandise of recent production. Cheapsmells.com is not one of our accounts, and we therefore have no way of knowing how they obtained our products. We trust you can understand that we are unable to assume responsibility for unauthorised representation of our product. We would kindly suggest you contact the seller directly with your concerns.

Please be assured of our desire to be of assistance to you.

    Sincerely

So I guess I have to contact Cheapsmells, but not sure what to say!

Glad you got an answer but I'm surprised they're not more interested to know more about potentially counterfeit products and where they came from.
  • Hi guys.. so i ordered 8 MAC blushers from cheapsmells.com, usually around 17 quid... reduced to 13 quid then EXTRA 15% off to around 10 quid? WOW!! Awfully cheap for mac blushers. Iv been using mac for over 10 years. Seen a fair amount of fake items. When i recieved these in the post today. I instantly had a feeling these were not real. And at that price too good to be true. They had a perfumed smell to them, all my other mac blushers purchased from a MAC STORE do not have no scents. Even when i purchased from MAC in america duty free, there was no scent. Also, my favourite colour is HARMONY. The harmony that i was sent by cheapsmells is a completly different shade. When i mean different i mean like badly wrong. Harmony is a contouring colour. I recieved a brown shade. In my opinion these items are fake. Everything about them is fake. The packaging, labeling is amazingly FAKE... Maybe some other items on the website are real. But the MAC products to me are a no no. I dont even want to apply it to my face, incase i get some reaction to it. They are going straight back to where they came from. But a word of advice... I rather give that £5-7 quid extra and purchased from a MAC store. :)

The comment below is 100% TRUE!! (sarah)
