I've got an XDA Exec come to the end of its 12 month contract. I don't think there's really a better phone available than it.
So I want a cheap contract with about 20mb of data/month. I'm currently on O2 Data-centric 18 for I think £16/month, with minutes charged at 20p/minute. I don't use voice, so I'm looking for something at the same sort of price but with a new phone - it seems wrong to keep a contract more than 12 months.

My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.

look at t-mobile, coverage worse thoughOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0

I'm about to upgrade from an Orange SPV C600, and am undecided between the 02 XDA Orbit and the T-Mobile MDA Compact III.
I understand that they are essentially the same phone, apart from styling (I’m favouring the squarer T-Mobile version on that front) and the fact that the Orbit has Wi-Fi.
On the one hand, I like the idea of free (or at least quick) net access in a coffee shop, and being able to use my home wireless network when I can’t kick the kids/wife off the PC = points for 02
On the other hand, given improved net usability is one of the key reasons for moving from WM for Smartphone to Pocket PC, the idea of the unlimited net access tariff add-on definitely appeals = points for T-Mobile
T-Mobile’s “Web ‘n’ Walk” data bundles certainly seem more competitive than anything O2 can offer.
Given that there seems to be a real move towards mobile web surfing/emailing, do we foresee any kind of movement from the other networks to come up with data charging that isn't a rip-off?0 -

Mobile Outlet have just released a range of T-Mobile Flext35 Web 'n' Walk (12 months) packages. Some of these come with 12 months free line rental via cashback and the remainder come with 10 or 11 months free:
