Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that ecoelle.
I have no advice on telling your OH - sorry - but I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you and hoping that your worst fears are wrong when you get the test results.

Ecoelle - Sorry to hear this, I think as for telling hubby you probably need to be honest - you are allowed to be scared and you don't have to protect his feelings or play down your fears (as lovely as it is to do so) - just tell him what has happened and how you feel.
The good thing is with this is you've gone as soon as you've found the lump and they seem quite small which is good. You also are being seen in 10 days time which will absolutely feel like an eternity but is quick by NHS standards. The same thing happened to my friend and she ran every worst case scenario through her head and it turned out to be benign cysts - the wait for the appointment was the worst though so I suggest you keep very busy for the next couple of weeks. I would be feeling just like you and wouldn't take my own advice but try your very best to stay positive :A
Thinking of you *hugs*0 -
Spoken to Hubby, managed to keep it together:) I told him exactly what the doctor had said. 9/10 are not cancer, in a person of my age it would be more likely not to be cancer, that there is nothing to feel in the armpit area so no lumpy lymph nodes. The more i think about it the better it sounds:) Every so often though i just get a bit teary, think i need a good old cry, get it out my system, then i'll be all good:)
Don't think i'm going to tell my mum though, she'll worry as my grandmas both died of breast cancer. Also hard as my two best friends, one is pregnant and has enough to worry about and the other lost her mum to breast cancer when she was really young.
Just going to try and not worry till Monday, then it's one appointment and i'll have my answer i guess. Think i'll have more info once the appointment letter comes through. Not at all sure what they will do at the appointment but the doctor said they are normally about 1 and 1/2 hours long so guessing they're quite thorough.
Thanks for the support guys0 -
Hiya ecoelle - sorry to hear you're going through such a scary time. The appointment is long because breast clinic tends to be a 'one stop shop' ie consultation, examination, ultrasound and sampling if possible, which is good as it gets the ball rolling on all those fronts. Its important not to worry, the majority of breast lumps are innocent but we just like to do a thorough job in the NHS so check all lumps out fully. I'm sure you're in excellent hands so keep positive if you can!

Thanks KolaKube (ooh loved them when i was a kid) you sound as though you work for the NHS? If so then i'm sure you're right and know far more about these things than me:) I was hoping that that was the case really, i did a quick google and on the hospital website it says that in the breast unit they have different specialist consultants and special nurses as well. Guess i'll find out at the appointment, but i'd prefer to go once and get all the tests done together rather than have to go for blood tests one day then an ultrasound another day and whatever else another day.0

Glad you told hubby and are getting support. Hope the time passes quickly for you and you get good news soon.

Ecoelle I'm a doctor (GP in training) - unfortunately I cant give you any specific medical advice but happy to provide a bit of support if needed! Breast clinics will vary hospital to hospital but as far as I'm aware the general aim is to sort everything at once, which is good
the specialist nurses are great if you have any specific questions too xx
