please help
I have been sent parking tickets from haringey council. I live in devon and have never been to any london borough ever.
discovered my car has been cloned, spoken to met police haringey police my local police all sympathetic but nothing can be done unless they take the car off the road. written to haringey council hoping they will accept my protestations but feel powerless and worried i will be summoned to court. two of the four tickets i cant prove i wasnt in haringey as i was in devon looking after my children. no-one will give me a crime number.
any advice?

See "UKCPS Court Action" thread. Post quoted in case of deletion. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
what does this mean?0

Ask Haringey for their photographic evidence and then compare them for differences with your vehicle - window stickers, minor damage etc0

I suggest you also post onto pepipoo.com, they may also be helpful. Can't understand why police are not more helpful. Maybe it will help to contact dvla and explain the problem to themI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

The police are talking rubbish !!!!!
I had exactly the same problem. All you need to do is get a new registration - contact DVLA via their website. It's annoying it will cost you a few quid but it's far cheaper than taking the car off the road ( I really can't believe how lazy the police are sometimes  ).All aboard the Gus Bus !0 -

As for the purported "cloning" it is actually extremely rare and, in the case of parking tickets (whether council or PPC) is far more likely to have been caused through straightforward human error than anything more sinister. As far as the OP is concerned they have suffered no crime and there is no reason why they should be given a crime number in the first place.
As far as Haringey is concerned, and as has already been suggested, ask for sight of their alleged photographs. I had a similar battle with Westminster not so long ago and was eventually obliged through their sheer intransigence to invite them to put up or shut up. They shut up once they reaslised that their photographs showed a vehicle of the same manufacturer as mine but that is where the similarity ended. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
It might not have been cloned, it might have been a thick finger at the council putting your number plate into the computer instead of a similar plate.0

You don't need a new registration but police have procedures when numbers are cloned and they can place reports on the police national computer when a reg number has been cloned.
I would suspect if four PCN's have been issued it is unlikely to be a mistake by the council as suggested by Kite."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

The easiest way to resolve things is for the OP to get copies of photographs from Haringey. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

Do the PCN's have details of your tax disc - Excise no. and expiry date. compare these too.0
