I've tried to do the hosts thing on a vista machine and it won't save, it keeps saying Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

Right click on the Hosts file and select Properties. On the General tab under Attributes, ensure you have removed the tick from 'Read only'. Apply any changes.
Let us know how it goes.
  • Hi, please help someone. For an unknown reason, all of my computers (from one internet connection) are unable to view all 4 of my websites. No one else has a problem viewing these sites except for all my office computers. I've tried:
    turning off firewalls
    different browsers
    tracerts (successful)
connecting all laptops directly to the modem
etc etc all the basic tactics

But nothing works, Im starting to think maybe someone has done this to me as a personal attack.

Its too weird and too much of a coincidence that my computers can view any website in the world, except for my 4 websites. Those same 4 websites are perfectly accessible from any other computers which use any other internet connection, other than mine.

Please tell me what this problem is and how to fix it. Big respect to anyone who can solve this riddle.
    Regards,
    Daniel

Your question is entirely unrelated to the rest of this thread.

    Try http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

You can block individual websites and types of websites such as proxies which are used to get around blocked websites, you can also use it to prevent you from going on phishing sites and sites with spyware.
