He can do what he likes at home on my brothers PC but I don't see why he should use my dads PC for things he has been told not to. If it was up to me he wouldn't use my dad's PC at all but my mums a push over.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Easy enough to add
127.0.0.1 translate.google.com
to the hosts fileEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
there are as many ways to circumvent it as there to block it. I think a more traditional solution needs to be found ( insert general parenting thing here )0

might also want to put him on a limited user account
might at least help prevent him installing anything without permission0 -
If it's just your dads PC you don't want him to use the best thing you can do is set up a password that only your dad knows.
This worked with my nephew and saved me cleaning out and patching up the PC every other month.0 -
software blocking is the solution. For example Website Block http://www.ashkon.com/webblock.html0

Use OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/ it's probably the best
Once signed up you can set blocks for adware etc https://www.opendns.com/start
no installs required just change dns servers0 -
Hit his fingers with a hammer next time he does it. Simple as that. Why should you have to prat about with your computer because the little !!!!!! can't do what he's told and has no respect for others property?0

I've tried to do the hosts thing on a vista machine and it won't save, it keeps saying Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct.0
