I know my granddaughter wants an iPod for birthday. I am not sure what you can do with an iPod, is it a telephone or just for applications....not sure...
Can anyone enlighten me what an iPod does and what is the best one to get that is not too expensive please.

kids seem to want an ipod Touch, it's just music and apps, no telephone.
as for not too expensive... it is an Apple product... :-SFriendly greeting!0 -
What age is she?
Most kids want an ipod Touch as said by dan above. They can contact each other on a Touch despite it not being a phone.
Basic model is around £140 ish, model with more space to save stuff is around £200 ish.
My daughter (12) loves hers to bits and uses it for everything, even educational stuff as she downloads Apps to help her. She now knows very basic Japanese. However no-one else does so she's on her own. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
You can get a few iPods, but I'm thinking, along with the others, that she wants the iTouch, which is one of the dearer ones, but will allow a lot to be done with it. Check with her, or her mum before you buy it though, in case of disappointment.
If it is the iTouch, and she'll be ok with it, you can get them second hand reasonably easily too which would save a bit.0 -
Remember to get a clear plastic case on Ebay for about 3 quid.0

Nowaday,Most kids want to play with ipod or ipad.
And they can be quiet with these,so i think get One for her may be a good choice.0 -
yep, another vote here for the ipod touch, my DD has had hers for over a year (she's 10) and she loves it, it holds music, games, it has a camera and you can connect to the internet with it too.
She had an ipod nano (music only really) before that, and it was rarely used.0 -

Another vote for the iPod Touch.. I use mine mainly for music and recently upgraded to the 64Gb model as 8Gb wasn't doing it for me.
And, like others say, you will need a case, or a rubber/silicone back for it as they are easily scratched. You can find these quite cheaply in some shops and markets as well as online.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
