employed full time security guard,my earnings for a full year will be about 23 thousand,i owe provident about 2 thousand and my car 1500,rent from housing association living there 10 years and i am on electral roll, nationwide upgraded my account yesterday to a blue card.

How long have you been in your current employment?
Do your wages get paid into your nationwide account?

Have you checked copies of your credit files to see what they show and confirm there is nothing incorrect on them?

Are you financially associated with anyone else? (eg a partner) and could they have issues on their credit file?

Did nationwide give you any indication of why you were refused? do you know if they did a credit search? or if it was a flat decline before they even did the credit search?

Not did nationwide ask about your partner - do your credit reports show you as being financially associated to your partner (or anyone?). In the financial associates section of your reports.

Which credit reference agency did you get your file from? or have you checked all 3?

Do you know which credit reference agency nationwide searched? and whether its the same one you have looked at?

Have you ever had any issues with your nationwide account with going ovedrawn without an overdraft or having any bills bounce?

You could always try appealing the decline by nationwide and seeing if that gets you anywhere (its rare but it might be worth a shot, the paperwork regarding the decline should explain how to appeal).

OP, you say that your earnings for the year so far are £21,000. Are you talking about the tax year 2011/2012 or the calendar year so far, i.e. January to March 2012?

I ask because I am interested in what sort of job pays that amount of money when you seem not to have much of a grasp of grammar nor numeracy.

Do they have any vacancies? I earn less than half of what you do and could do with something that pays better.

I'll probably be punished for this post, but it has made me feel a lot better.

Well you could try apply for a loan with another mainstream lender. As you have no relationship with any other banks then its difficult to suggest any 1 in particular.

But if you are declined again then I wouldn't keep applying to lots of different places.

If your current debts are only £3500 and the purpose of borrowing is so you just repay 1 figure a month then you could try applying for £3500 rather than £5k. You might find it easier to be accepted for a lower amount.

Or depending on what APR you car finance is at you might want to just try applying for a loan to repay your provident loans.
