I think nobody will take the risk of recommending ebay, but you can be lucky.

A £400 payout would buy you an iPhone 4 these days, or stretch it a bit and get a 4S.

Id never advise ebay, even if you get the device, and its ok and they weren't hiding any hardware fault then Ive read too many cases of someone selling it then calling an insurance fraud case and blocking the IMEI.

Leaves the buyer without a phone and the new buyer has very little comeback to getting the IMEI ban revoked, instead it would be a protracted and normally fruitless conversation with the police.
  • I'd second the purchase of an iPhone 4. Apple sell them for circa 429 and top cashback are offering 2% net.

Buying direct from apple is safest way and only adds a little to overall price.

For general interest to all what insurance company do you use?

Apologies it is a 4g Iphone - they offered to Pay £499 less the £100 policy excess. So £399 in total.

It was insured via our household insurance which is LV Insurance. Sent the phone off and got a cheque within a week.

Lets just say my two year old son will not be watching Thomas the Tank with my phone whilst on the toilet in the future :D

Thanks for the advice, I was hoping to get a better deal somewhere else and did look at Ebay but as you say, its a bit dodgy, especially with an expensive Iphone.

I will be off to the Apple shop on my Lunch

No iPhone is 4G yet and 4G has not yet been implemented in the UK.

I think the OP probably just means the iPhone 4, or 4th generation iPhone.
