Bread maker vs shop bought bread

I use a cheap book on Amazon that has very good review, think I read about it on here before! Called 'fresh bread in the morning' as it has recipes that suit most popular breadmakers but without a lot of the unnecessary ingredients that the bread machine manufacturers try and tell you to put in, ie the dried milk. Plus there are other ideas like using malt extract instead of sugar to try.
Thank you, I've just ordered a second hand copy on Amazon, for £2.79, using some Amazon vouchers I got from Shop and Scan!
I can't wait to try some new recipes! Mmmm...0 -

The porter bread and teacakes are excellent!
If you end up looking for malt extract like I did, I didn't find it in supermarkets but is widely in health shops0 -

malt extract is excellent stuff, I love it in breads, it makes a nice substitute for honey adding moisture & flavour0 -
Kirri and JoeyG are both spot on. Another Morphy Richards owner here (probably about 5 years use out of mine although we are on bread-pan number 3 now!). A big plus point about making your own bread is that you know what goes into it; if you read about the Chorleywood process for industrially produced bread it will put you off store-bought bread for life.0

This bread maker Morphy Richards suggested above is great value for money and makes lovely bread! We’re separate, two ghosts in one mirror, no nearer

It's a very slim paperback so I didn't feel too guilty buying it
I'd never used malt extract before I got the book but I do really like it. It's a shame it's not as easy to get hold of though.0 -

I don't know if I'm brave enough to read about the Chorleywood process...0
