Bread maker vs shop bought bread

Hi all
I am currently having a mental debate on whether I should buy a bread maker due to either buying really bad quality bread, or having to buy really expensive bread...
I know shop bought bread is a lot more convenient, but the price/quality is making me want to cry.
Bread makers seem cheap enough (I figure if I save on ave 50p a loaf, it will be paid off in a number of weeks with the amount of bread we eat).
Can any of you help with my decision on whether a bread maker is worth it? Or am I missing out on any good bread deals?
(I currently buy Hovis from farm foods, 2 loafs for £1.50).
Thanks

Aldi, Lidl and Tesco value all do bread that you can get for 47p. I personally can't spot the difference between Hovis and the value bread in Lidl. Plus if you're lucky and see a 30% off sticker, just 32p in Lidl. So cheap it's worth trying before looking at breadmakers...0

I would be lost without my breadmaker,I only paid £5 for it on the carboot a couple of years ago,so it has more than paid for itself lol.Slimming World at target0

Panasonic are worth considering

I've tried Aldi's, Tesco and Asda's own brand bread and they either taste stale-ish, have got massive holes/air gaps in them, or are in a big Z shape... So I've never been very enthused by them :-\0

75p a Hovis loaf is ok, if you don't like the bread enough, get a bread maker.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

My mother has a breadmaker. The white bread comes out looking more like Madeira cake, in texture.0

The reviews for the Panasonic (Amazon) all seem excellent. Just one question from someone who has never used a breadmaker - will the Wrights and supermarket own brand bread mixes work in these machines ?ELITE 5:2

Yes, but getting ingredients would be cheaper.
Not at the moment! (There is an 80p coupon for Wrights on the coupon thread)
Thank you for confirming the mixes will be OK though.ELITE 5:2
