mmw sorry to hear about the fire, i'm so glad you are ok and not hurt

my sis once left her chip pan on (turned the heat down as she was on the phone then nipped to the local post office) forgot about it totally until it set itself on fire, god knows how long it had been on fire before her kids noticed the fire in the garage (we think she left it on for 2hrs approx) -she has an extra cooker in there, she phoned me and my DH to come round (we live next door). I rang 999 but got an automated message that kept asking me which service i wanted. I was so hysterical i just kept screaming "fire, fire , fire" down the phone and it didn't seem to understand what i was saying, i got so frustrated i started swearing and crying down the phone and gave up.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: In the meantime my sister HAD PICKED UP THE BURNING CHIP PAN and thrown out onto the grass:eek::eek::eek:she had a few minor burns on her forearms, the fire service never came, her garage was totally destroyed by the smoke damage took weeks to clean it all. She was very very lucky.

never ever leave anything cooking in the oven or on the hob while you "nip out" even if it's only the school run, too often you may get distracted or their may be traffic, it's not worth the risk and afew extra minutes saved

toni no one knows anything about your life and has no right to judge you, we all have our own beliefs and values but that doesn't mean you should be insulted in the process. Personally I believe in no intimacy before marraige IYKM but i am very religious and old school, i'm sure mmw didn't mean anything by her comments

caz i am so sorry i haven't had time to answer your PM, I know people are keen to keep this thread a happy one but I am upset and disappointed with the rucus that happened on the old thread before it closed. I haven't said anything for fear of retribution but I do feel a valued member of this thread was picked on for a trivial unqualified reason. Most of us on this this thread don't care about facebook and i think the member that brought the subject up should perhaps have known better (perhaps as i should now) the reason why i'm discussing it publically is i would like to please let us put it behind us guys
