I love browsing in charity shops. My recent bargains include a bottle of bareMinerals Quick Change Brush Cleaner for 50p and an OPI nail polish for 80p.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0

After looking for an out of the ordinary bag (anything but but black, brown, burgundy etc) for months I've found the ideal one in Dr B's for £1.99. Broad red and orange stripes with two big matching flowers on the front, it really makes a statement! Now I just need to buy a new outfit to go with it0

Thank-you so much everyone for the thoughtful and useful feedback :T
We were sorting more donations yesterday and today and I explained the popularity of a sale rail to the team, so we've set aside a mix of clothing for that. And we've also sorted out the ladies' plus size clothing to give it its own section.
We will be doing window displays throughout the day, but everything will be clearly labelled with make/size/price and there'll be an "everything in the window is on sale, just ask us and we'll be glad to help" sign. Or something along those lines0 -
Went to the IoW for a few days - managed a quick browse in one or two CS & came up with two lovely enamelled mugs for £1.00. They're in perfect condition & have a Pussers Rum advert on them & different flags. Had DH with me so didn't really get much chance to browse although he did get a book from an author he likes.
Good Hunting everyone!
Shereen - I do like books sorted alphabetically by author if there are a lot. If there are not too many I prefer them displayed horizontally instead of vertically so i don't have to crick my neck to read the titles!
Good Luck
Just read back through the thread & missed the post about the Mountbatten shop on the Iow - never mind, we'll be going over againSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Just another thought Shereen (don't think it's already been mentioned?) - if you are selling CDs and DVDs please put them no higher than average eye level if in a fixed display stand, or if in flip-through trays put them at a comfortable height to do so.
I often have to give up when browsing CDs, as the way they are displayed is either too high to read the titles, or they are so low down that I'd have to crouch. For some silly reason the paper inserts are often in tiny writing on the edge, so unless you pull each CD out it's impossible to see what it is. In my experience, the best arrangement is front-to-back flip trays at average waist height, not too stuffed that you can't flick through them.
Also, some c/shops overprice their CDs, at e.g. £2.99, while others sell them for 50p or even 20p each. Guess which ones are worth the extra effort of browsing through!
Good luck with your new venture, it's a very worthwhile thing to do.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
