I got a 1 pint Horlicks glass with mixer stick for £3.99. Some other customers st the counter were saying how expensive they thought it was but I was happy. I have another larger one & an even larger Ovaltine one that I use as vases so this will complement them :)

I found a lovely leather handbag for £4. I bought it because it's so large - I thought "great, I'll get loads in that" - trouble is, it's so big I spend ages searching for things :D

In another shop I got my mum a lovely Joules blouse for £5.99 & another (I think it's home made) for £3.19 (odd price) which fits exceptionally well; you really would think it was made for her.

I got daughter a dress (another HM item) for £3.99 and a River Island blouse for £3.

I bought myself 5 paperbacks for £1 and thought about some shoes that were barely worn, if at all; a pair of Crocs for £6, or a pair of Clarkes wedges for £6, or a pair of un-named but expensive looking fine leather shoes for £10, or a pair of Clarkes (dirty) suede lace ups for £10 - went back later for the suede ones thinking to get some suede cleaner & they had all gone! I shall have to see if they have the suede ones in the shoe-shops :)

I also got a couple of xxxl baggy men's t/shirts - for me to wear as a nightie - for £1 each and a boxed set of 8 pretty notelets for 99p.

**Oh and for £1.20 I got 6 x sets of 3 cotton hankies at 20p per set. They are brand new children's ones with little woodland animals in bright but not garish colours - very sweet and each hanky in the set is different. I want to use them as bunting and I'll be able to get 4 pieces from each hanky, so 72 pieces in all.**

  • Been in Bourne visiting family and had a look in the local charity shops. Found a nice black looks like New leather bag. Brand is Mandarins Duck. Googled it and they are an expensive American make and retail for about £150!!!! I paid £4.50. Chuffed with my bargain.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Just struggled home with a bargain I couldn't resist. An Ikea dolls bed (£16 new) for £3.50. OK, it has been used but comes complete with it's original bedding which I will wash or even make more. I have some leftover white paint which I will use to re-paint it for my grandchildren when they come round. The littlest boy, just 3, is really into dolls right now so will enjoy putting them in the bed, as will the two five year old grandchildren when they visit. A little project for £3.50. I have crochet practise pieces which will look good on top too, as blankets.
  • Hello all, pleased to have found this thread for the first time - some enviable bargains from you all!

I am most chuffed with my own purchases of a 50p vintage necklace, and a £1.50 1950's dress this last week! I need to alter the dress though, as several sizes too big. Wish me luck, my sewing skills are a bit basic..!

It's been a long time since I've been able to look round the charity shops but no sons here today so off I went!

Worcester first and got a couple of shirts for my brother.

Then Barnards Green and Gt Malvern and got the following:

    002-3.jpg

    M and S (Indigo) cardie, wool mix - £4.95

    Unknown make, wool/felt applique top - £4.95

Bodum cafetiere for bigger son - £1.95

    All from the Blue Cross.

Then (drum roll......) while I was waiting to pay for those, in the back room of the shop I saw someone was testing out an accordion that had just come in. My mum plays the piano accordion for various folk/morris groups and I've always wanted to learn so £40 for that! I've managed a scale so far this evening. :-) As new, in the box with an old book of music included.

Then popped to Oxfam to get some coffee for the cafetiere.

Just picked up a "like new" faux sheepskin black coat (M&S) from a charity shop in town. £20. Not bad, I thought, it will see me through the winter, lovely and cosy and it fits well. Also, of course, the cancer charity will benefit. It would probably have cost upwards of £60 from M&S so I think it is a good buy. Going to Scotland in the winter (that is if they'll let me in as an expat, by then, lol) so I reckon it will get put to good use on that trip alone, not to mention various Christmas markets I find myself drawn to either here or in Europe.
