trouble getting back to google home page

What happens is:
Type something into google, brings up search results......all OK but then click home page button to do a different search for example and I get the same results again, but a bit like looking through a net curtain for a few seconds then it clears and just shows the previous search.
If I use a new tab it's ok, but don't want to keep doing this.
It's a recent thing that's really annoying.

How can I stop this happening please?

  • a few things you could do.

    1. you dont need to go back to home page to do another search, just enter it in the search box on the page you're on

    2. perhaps your home page isnt google.co.uk ?

how are you getting back to the home page? what software are you using?
    Friendly greeting!

nope spoke too soon, gone back to same as before...............was nice whilst it lasted:(
  • not sure if relevant but... are you using internet explorer? or firefox maybe? to surf the web.
are you using the latest version, i.e. is you system up-to-date (do you use windows XP? windows 7? vista?)
dunno if this will help solve your problem but at least gives some info to work from...

and the fact there's no search box suggests you may not be looking at google at all - perhaps your computer is infected? please dont panic. do you have anti-virus software?
    Friendly greeting!

I'm using google chrome and hadn't thought about a virus. Off to do some scans!
  • if it helps, with chrome you don't need a page to search from, just type your search in the address bar :)

Same with Firefox and <checks> Internet Explorer.
Firefox can be customised to search in Google.co.uk rather than the default Google.com.

I'm not sure it is a problem - I've noticed something similar recently and it looks to me as if that's the way it is meant to work. If I've done a search and got the results, if I then add more words to the search to refine it, the screen fades slightly while it carries out the search and then comes back sharp with the results.
  • oh yes, this is true... it returns results when you pause slightly in typing, saving you having to press return (what a time-saver).
and causing some confusion it would seem!
Noting this, I suppose all is working fine OP... cheers tyllwyd
    Friendly greeting!
