problem with pc world 3 lemons agreement

some time ago i brought a pc laptop from pc world and after many hours researching the sales man said the advent laptop was a good powerful one as it has lots of memory and had a 4 gig chip for high users and gamers basically. i wasnt sure as i didnt hear about the brand before but he assured me that it was good quality as it was a pc world home brand so it had to be high quality so on the spec and price i snapped it.

i brought the laptop and he said about a 3 lemons agreement so basically if my laptop goes wrong 3 times there wont be any lemons about replacing it for a new one. one this condition i decided to also buy a cheap acer netpad for when i am on the train and also got the 3 lemons service with this as well and it has worked brilliantly since.

basically the advent laptop has had an issue with the net. wen i brought a package and the guy installed his internet on there from sky it would go on line fine but after a week it would go on the internet and after an hour it would re turn off and on again.

now i phoned the 3 lemons service and they went though some problems and it didnt work. later my mate who knows about laptops said to do a "nuclear reset" and bacially reinstall msn windows system. after this it work nice for a couple of weeks then the problems began with the on/off thing. any way it went to the repair department and i have had repaired 3 times but the on/off situation keeps happening and now i called them to request a replacement as i wanted them to change it an macbook as they had better reviews. they are saying they cannot find a fault and WILL NOT CHANGE IT FOR NEW COMPUTER.

i feel they are in breech of their conditions.

ChadMan, what do you have in writing from them?

Also, when did you buy the laptop? The age may make a difference to what they have to do about it.
  • If it works fine for a while after a reinstallation of Windows, it sounds very much like it's a software problem.
If this is the case you may find that there is an exclusion in the warranty for this.

Define some time ago. As depending exactly when it was purchased the 3 lemons is a fairly recent development (within the last year)

Look in the paperwork you received and it will state that there.

If it is a WhatEver Happens policy and it does include 3 lemons statement it's talking about 3 different repairs (I.E picked up and repaired and returned from Newark the repair centre) for hardware faults.

Your post is lacking a ton of information so help you further so if you could reply.
    When exactly was it purchased
What does it say in the WEH policy agreement
Has it been picked up 3 times with a hardware fault diagnosed.

Essentially the information you are providing is generic and unhelpful and I do believe that if a System Restore fixes the problem it's a software problem, either a router problem or a software update that's causing it, or software you've installed/changes made by yourself.

    * Also, there is no such thing as msn windows system*

When it's been away for repair, did they fix anything, or send it back as no fault found?

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

He was not truthful with you. Advent are low-end and low quality built to a cheap price.

A 'lemon' is something you have bought that is pretty much faulty straight away. Used to be a car-related phrase, but now used to cover anything you buy that quickly goes wrong.

A Lemon is a small sour fruit that was used in olden times to cure scurvy. It's rind is popular with housewives for cakes and bakes.
