Got £600 in my EDF Energy account via DD, wheres my bill?

Do they only produce actual bill when the meter reading has been taken by them. We have had a new boiler installed since then and I am expecting £200+ spare. What are the chances of me getting this back bearing in mind we are now approaching spring/summer, my current DD is £85pm

Put in a reading online or by phoning them and it will generate a bill - along with a recalculation of your DD amount most likely.
You'll then see your actual balance and if you talk to them, may be able to negotiate some sort of repayment.
How the DD amount is recalculated appears to be a mystery to all, including EDF staff, so it may defy logic and increase in your case, but if you phone them, they are able to adjust it or at least put it back where it was.
You're quite possibly on an annual bill, so I wouldn't wait for one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Its not a mystery.
You give them the reading, they calculate back from that reading what you have used in the last 12 months.
They work out from that the cost of what it will be for the next 12 months and divide by 12 (months) that's the DD that you pay.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Trust me, it is a mystery to those I've spoken to at EDF.
I set my DD at £100 for the fixed tariff I'm on and based on my historic usage. I've stopped giving them readings as they've adjusted the amount upwards every time they've had them. The last time saw an increase to £135. On the same day their "system" said that, I phoned them and the person who I spoke to recalculated it to £72. She could not explain how their system arrived at £135, but she offered to reduce the amount I was paying. I said to leave it at £100, as my calculations showed that would adequately cover my usage going forward.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Yes , it is a mystery. I've just had my first bill in 5-6 months (14 months for my parents so far and waiting) and it includes the DD recalculation. They have used 4000 kwh more gas than I have used in the last 12 months but an accurate amount of elec to come up with the new DD. Small problem is that they have used my current tariff (fixed saver) which expires at the end of this month when I will be put onto the standard one (until I switch) and I think the DD would need to be higher than the change from £69 to £82 doing the maths.0

Are you on 6 monthly billing hence its not due?
Billing cycles are based on your agreed rate of bill production e.g. quarterly, 6 monthly, etc. Meter readers do t have o call yo produce a bill, usually a billing window opens to await their reading and if it doesn't come in, it gets estimated. Also, utilities read at certain intervals, not say quarterly.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

...if only it were THAT simple:rotfl:
EDF's computer works on some sort of astrological based prediction system. EVERY bill that I've had,has resulted in a random, unexplainable DD increase - I've had it restored back down on every occasion...and I'm now sitting on a credit surplus of £120! If I'd agreed to their increases the surplus would be in excess of £350:)!!0 -

Their computer is not astrologically based, I'm sure it's more like this....

Anyway I don't belive in "randomness" in computing. I have two theories, both of which cannot be excluded by the calculation. The first is that the future consumption assumption (undisclosed which is part of the problem) is based on previous consumption, possibly over 12 months dated and uninfluenced by up to 11 months worth of actual customer reads.
The second is that the recalculation is done (accurately) for each energy but is added to the current total monthly payment resulting in a "double payment". Fanciful but it still fits:D.
So not "random" just incompetent.:( And why would the organisation choose to recruit 1,100 extra staff over sorting the problem? Ah, perhaps advised by an astrologist.0 -

I support your belief in the lack of randomness. There is a system somewhere and a "formula" that is followed. It just seems that nobody associated with EDF can explain it, or they're too embarrassed to.
Many of the people I've spoken to there, in getting my DD put back to what it should be, have stated that the computer often comes up with inexplicable figures.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
