What date is your RBS DD normally collected?
There may be a possibly the DD was not set up in time to collect the payment in question.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
9th of each month it is due to go out. The RBS letter says all direct debits were "transferred" on 22 February.0
-
No, the letter says, and I quote:
"The following direct debit details have been supplied by your previous bank on your account X, which are to be transferred to your account held with Halifax Y.
The table below lists the direct debits that HAVE BEEN transferred to the account you hold with us."
And below the list of payments:
"You don't need to do ANYTHING else if you are happy with these payments as they are listed."
Well that rules you out of being at fault then, do remember to make sure it does not go on your credit report as a missed payment etc though..
Good Luck..0 -
What date was February's statement produced?
Did that statement say the payment would be collected from your current account (ie the original RBS account) by DD?
If it did you need to ask RBS why they didn't take it?...or did they try and it was refused due to lack of funds?0 -
I have sufficient funds in both accounts. Not sure what you mean but the credit card payment went out of my RBS account on the 9th February as usual. It was shortly after that that I began the switch to Halifax.
The Halifax account was active from 17 Feb.0 -
I don't think the collection date is relevant here. What is relevant is the statement date, because I suspect RBS cards received the DD amendment AFTER they had produced February's statement. What date is your RBS DD normally collected?
Perhaps the OP could answer my earlier questions?0 -

Yes sorry I was actually meant to put statement date rather than collection date. However I suspect the statement was produced before the DD was set up.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Oh dear, another "DD gone wrong" thread...0

My credit card statements are all dated on the 13 of the month, if that changes anything.0

Well just been on the phone FOR AN HOUR and they agreed "as a gesture of good will" to refund the £24 charges but blamed Halifax.
But luckily I checked my Halifax account before I rang them and noticed that today a payment was taken for the credit card for this month.
I was told on the phone that they'd be taking two payments next month (one for this month). I said why would you do that because its been taken today. Anyway this guy apologised for some sort of error on RBS's part then I was put through to complaints, on hold for 20 minutes and this guy was very rigid in his stance.
He said I'd been advised to go to the bank and make a complaint. I had to tell him, no, I've been advised that you would suspend next month's payment so I can make a manual one. He went silent for a few minutes and then said he had done that but I had to make a payment by next month.
At first I was also told that the reason for the late payment charge was that Halifax didn't give them the details til the 5th March. I told them I had a letter from Halifax as stated above and then I was asked to hold while he spoke with his manager.
Anyway it was not easy or quick but I was refunded. I think people need to be firmer/more aggressive with the banks.0
