We are in the process of replacing our kitchen. Behind the units, we were shocked to find three electrical outlets had been very poorly installed and in a dangerous condition. The boxes are not attached, literally hanging out of the wall and bare wires are visible. So much for compliance with Building Regulations and what value is the part P certificate?
This is not an old property. It was built in 2006 by Stewart Milne who claim to be one of the UK's largest independent housebuilders. http://www.stewartmilnehomes.com/
I have written to complain.

Probably not connected and were misread on the drawing, hence why they were just left, it would be quicker to chase new ones in.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

They certainly are connected . FYI they are the fused outlets supplying the integrated dishwasher, fridge and freezer."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

eiks... that's shocking.
Must be so frustrating to see that... I am absolutely speechless.
Would you think it's a good idea to forward it to the council (building control) or something so that they are aware of the developer and ensure their further builds are safe.0 -
Electricians used to be inspected by the NICEIC, Nation Inspection Council for Electrical Industry Contractors but although they kept the name they no longer do inspections!!! So are a useless money making organisation as I found out when I found my new house had serious problems with the electrics, no earthing, lights on 16a mcbs and much more.

Could have been a genuine mistake that would have been fixed but the kitchen units were put in the way and forgotten about so wouldn't have been picked up on the inspection before handover ??0

This new build should have been inspected by building control officer. I shall complain to the council. They may be able to identify who did the work and who inspected / certified it.
That will not help me, but may encourage them to take a bit more care in future."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
