Toshiba laptop with no wifi connection

I bought a toshiba c660 laptop (largely due to reading about it on here) but have had to use an ethernet cable since there seems to be no means of using wifi.

The router and everything are fine since I used them with the last laptop. I'v googled it and it seems to be a common issue but there is no fix. Does anyone have a clue what to do?

Look for a small switch on front edge or side of the laptop. Failing that, look at the line of Function keys along the top of the keyboard for a symbol that looks similar to a satellite dish. Pressing the Fn key whilst tapping the key bearing this symbol will switch WiFi on.

    Edit. It's Fn + F8 to enable/disable wireless function

2nd edit. The manual suggests that some models do not have wireless capability. What is the exact (full) model number please

idk if the driver is installed.

The exact model number? Where would I find that?

I press FN and F8 and wifi symbol comes up and says on yet still can't connect.

Has it found your network? Have you entered network key?

Look in the bottom right corner (near the clock) you should see an icon for the wireless connection. Clicking on it will bring up a list of networks local to you. One of them should have the name assigned to your router's LAN.

Highlight it, click on Connect. You will be prompted to enter your Network Key (you do have wireless security enabled, right?)

If you don't know what your network key is, you can either find it by logging onto the router's admin page, or if you have another Windows 7 machine with a wireless connection, you can copy the details from one to the other using a USB stick.

Have a look on the bottom of the laptop and quote the model number. It will begin with PSC1LE-

Even their most basic model will have Wireless Communication, so we should look elsewhere for the solution.

Are you able to troubleshoot this with me or will you need someone to assist you?
