Holiday in Cuba

I really fancy going on holiday to Cuna this year. I am looking for an all inclusive, smack bang next to or on a beach for 2 weeks. My husband and I love a holiday spent reading , lying in the sun and cooling off frequently in the sea. Our last holiday was half board and we ended up eating in the hotel every night and with drinks added on we were almost the same price again at the end of the holiday.
Has anyone been and got any recomendations. I want 4 star + and the best deal going.......... of course. Doesn't have to be child friendly. Can anyone help please?

So why bother going to Cuna (or even Cuba?)
You could pick any beach anywhere (that's warm) as you're not going to see any local sights, people or food.
Get a cheap flight to one of the Costa's I'm sure you'll feel at home there. :cool:0 -
We have just returned from 2 weeks at Playa Pesquero. This is our second visit to Cuba (our first was to the Cayo's) and I can't recommend this hotel enough. Loads of choice of restaurants, largest pool in Cuba and slap bang on the beach. The staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you. As paulwellarfan says you do have to pick your dates carefully due to the weather and school holidays, but if you can get those right then this is the place to go. You will always find a lot of Canadians there as it is only a 4/5 hour flight for them. A bit like us Brits going to the Canaries for a week.
Hope you find something.0 -
Went to the Melia Cayo Coco for the first two weeks of May last year. We had pretty much the same criteria as you, and it was wonderful. Fantastic beach, amazing food, wonderful staff, and even better (for us), no children allowed. We went on a few excursions, but spent most of the time on the beach or by the pool. The mix of nationalites was 35% British, slightly more Canadians, and the rest were South Americans, but everyone seemed to mix quite well.0

Bearing in mind the comments regarding students (Canadian), how do you fine out when's best to avoid them? Or is it just a case of avoiding all inclusives?0

Check college holiday dates I guess. I have been to Cuba in Sept/Oct and May and June and have not experienced vast numbers of students but it is a few years since I last went.
If you want a popular Cuban beach resort you are going to struggle to find anything other than AI.0 -
This is also what i am wondering. When we were in Cuba it rained every day at some point and when we had a big storm we couldn't even get in the sea for a few days.So why bother going to Cuna (or even Cuba?)

Try Egypt where you can guarantee that every day will be hot and sunny and the sea so clear and warm. Good hotels include the Sentido Crystal Bay (Exec suite is the best) in Hurghada and the Savoy Sharm el Sheikh.
If you are stuck on Cuba, i can recommend the Paradisus Rio de Oro in Guardalavaca. Food was great.:beer:0
