Thanks, but please be more specific, like a link to the ebay page
yes here is one page there are thousands take your pic
but pic one that has Control Modes: Toggle, Momentary, Latched, Toggle + Momentary
this is important if you get one that is just latched or toggle
it wont do for what you need

Could you send me the details of your device please?
I have been looking for something like this - I only have a 2kW PV system - I think the water heater is a lot more than this so will it draw the extra or just heat slower at whatever is being generated?2kW South, South East Solar Array0 -
A 1kW immersion heater will always draw 1kW unless you wire it up with a very hefty rheostat to increase the resistance and so reduce the current.
There are other specialist web forums where people have discussed exactly that (and more complex versions of the wiring discussed here).
With a 2kW system you probably wouldn't get much benefit because the amount of time that the generation less the baseload exceeds 1kW will be very limited. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Gosh there are plenty of remote control devices!! Though most need human fingers to operate, like the ones I've seen in ASDA.

I suppose you can wire low voltage signals into the finger-buttons, if the voltages are compatible. That might be the problem.0 -

You could of course supply a 1kw immersion heater via a 230/115 stepdown transformer when it would only draw 250w (plus transformer losses).
Or any other power heater will drop to a quarter of its 'normal' rating.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Hi Brian the output from the photo switch is voltage free,
in other words its just a switch so you can solder the wires to the button on the transmitter no problem0 -

Hi solar novice
ill send you the info but to be honest i dont think it will be of much use to you as your heater is prob 3kw and as your solar system is only 2kw it will never work as intended you could just use 1 solar light switch to turn it on when the sun is bright enough but you will allways be importing leccy.
as others have said you could change your heater to a 1kw0 -

Ah fine.
I can see that the "control mode" you refer to is crucial.
Will need to study all those remote specifications0 -
Hi, hope I haven't missed the boat. Could you send me details too please, including where to get the remotes.
Thanks.0 -
