Vent: Next Flowers

We've had a really difficult family time recently. Illness, stress and a few harsh words. We thought, lets restart with a great Mothers Day and, because we can't get there due to work, splashed out on two bouquets of flowers from Next. I honestly thought the high cost would be worth it and Next completely reliable.

One was due for delivery today and the second next Tuesday (because that family are away until then). Today's has arrived .....dead! We were so embarrassed, especially in the circumstances. We were lucky one of our sisters was there when they arrived and couldn't believe it and sent us a photo.

Next have been OK so far, and are resending another but I hope sincerely they are of tip top quality and the second bunch too.

I was so disappointed.

My OH bought me a bouquet for my birthday the other day and the quality was shocking - all dead within 3 days. Had another bouquet delivered (free) and the quality wasn't any better. Had this problem with them before but thought they may have upped their game. I expected better from Next. They did refund the order but my OH was gutted that out of all the flowers I received at work, his looked the worst. Not what you expect when you've spent £40+.
  • I've used them in the past and they've been great, have ordered my mum flowers to celebrate her redundancy for next week and am worried now. Hopefully they will be ok, if not trust me I've no issues in complaining to them!

I don't know why anyone pays Nexts prices for flowers. You get much better quality from a local florist for less money. I don't think there can be any quality control with Next if you think about the amount of orders they must get.

I ordered because Next are a reliable company brand name and I could see a picture of the selection. The two selections I chose should look stunning in the lounges of my relatives. I have absolutely no idea who would be a good local florist in their area as I don't live in either town.

If they don't live up to their reputation for quality, I sincerely hope they live up to their reputation for after sales service.

I disagree on quality control. Big companies can offer extremely good quality control. They only sell a set number of each, so should be able to control it that way. Or not sell at all rather than risk their good name.
  • My grandmother was sent a bouquet of flowers from Next by my aunt for her birthday and they had clearly been treated really badly. The box they came in was battered and the bouquet was squashed and half dead. My grandmother felt so embarrassed to tell my aunt but felt she had to so she could get her money back. I wouldn't ever recommend Next's flower service to anyone.

You will probably never get an exact replica of what you see in the directory or on their website, depends on what the florist can get hold of. The most you can hope for is that the colours are the same.

Interflora tend to use local florists for their deliveries, i would imagine other flower delivery services do too. Why don't you try them next time ? I have a friend who is a florist and takes Interflora orders, she supplies amazing flowers and finds that once the recipient realises where they're from, she gets repeat business.

Personally, i find that the bigger the company, the more the quality control tends to hit the skids, especially a company like Next who are definately NOT florists !

well, i ordered 2 bouquets from next, one for my grandmother and one for my mother in law. both live 70 miles away so thought I would get them for them. I ordered them on Tuesday, with the bouquet for my grandmother to be delivered on Friday and my MIL yesterday. Neither have been delivered and I am fuming!!! it cost me almost £50 to get there on mothers day and nothing!!!
You're so very special, I wish I was special

I always just google florists in the area I'm sending to (including overseas) and then look on their websites. Most florists these days have a website which shows various types of bouquets and arrangements that they do. I've always been disappointed by Next flowers as they seem poor value for money when they arrive.

Next flowers are not made by florists. They do not claim to be either, they state they have been designed by florists. Please use your local florist to ensure you get what you pay for. Try to use independents rather then relays such as Interflora etc... Remember when you send an order to any relay company they take a hefty chunk before the florist gets it. Leaving you with less flowers then you paid for.

Very surprising, I've never had any problem with flowers from Next, I usually send my mother either a boquet or a plant and they have always lasted.

Sent a boquet to her for Mother's Day and she was extremely happy, the only complaint she has was that the boquet was so large she had to buy another vase to hold the flowers.

Very reasonable price as well approx £27 inc delivery for 100 blooms:D
total airhead, total bimbo, very superficial:D
