The heartless 3 mobile

Just had to vent my anger and check if anyone else has had trouble with 3mobile. My friend has a brain tumour and last October was told she must not use a mobile phone. She contacted 3mobile and was told to return her sim card with a letter from her doctor. She duly did this, but still the direct debit was taken each month. Her condition has got worse and her sister phoned 3mobile and was told they had not received either the sim or doctors letter. The doctor was informed and although she was furious with the company, she faxed another letter to them. My friend's sister stopped the direct debit. 3mobile has phoned her and said they will be taking legal proceedings, because stopping a direct debit is illegal. Can they do this? If the law says they can, how heartless can some people be. They must be able to see that this mobile has not been used since October 2006. Any suggestions as to what we can do next?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's not illegal to stop a DD, however it may be iffy to not pay at all until confirmation has been secured from the company that the contract was cancelled. Pants, I know, but under current UK law looks like we're stuck with it. I assume you're talking about 3 the network, not 3mobile the retailer ?? If it was the network, then this is despicable treatment and they should be brought to book over it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Yes, it was the network! Under normal circumstances it's annoying, but with someone so sick, you think they would have some feelings; especially as the doctor has been involved writing letters to them.

That`s awful. I would write to them at head office telling them you want refund and £20 for distress its caused.0

hi chrissy,
try emailing their exec office on executive.office@three.co.uk and address your email to Mr Bob Fuller (3's CEO)
state your prob and the difficulties you've been facing....their exec office is usually very prompt and helpful.
i hope this helps, and i also hope your friend gets better. God bless0 -
Thank you, I shall compose the letter straight away!0

Go for it - if the ch.exec. can't see the inhumanity of this situation, he shouldn't be in the job. Good Luck......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
