This forum isn't the place to discuss engaging in illegal activities.
In the circumstances, the vehicle should not even be on a public highway unless it displays a current valid tax disc.
If you wanted to use the vehicle, you should have gone to a post office that issues tax discs and got one issued immediately.
OP made an error in using online to renew tax disc
i guess they are younger generation and dont know how to do post offices like we do
as regards this forum 'isnt the place to discuss engaging in illegal activities' that just sounds to me like you want to be seen as someone who never does wrong
I try to keep the right side of the law but we all make mistakes
Wife got a fixed penalty parking ticket from the council last december, we argued area she parked in was not clear
dismissed by council pay £45 in next 14 days or it goes up.
Went by the same parking area yesterday and the council have now marked it out properly in 5 foot letters, keep clear
How many other poor souls have been robbed the same way for trying to do right but end up being wronged by some jobsworth0 -

Take it any way you like, I'm just reiterating the forum rules. Please don't discuss illegal issues or those that are grey areas in law on this forum"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Premier.
Did you read my first post?
I asked Can I/Should I use the car meantime?
If it is illegal I will leave the car on my driveway until the disc arrives.
No-one, and especially not me is inciting illegal activities.
That is why I asked the original question - as I could not find definitive legislation online.DF0 -

As I already stated. It is an offence to fail to display a tax disc.
It's a matter for you to decide if you want to drive it or not.0 -
Yes Sgt Pepper - thanks for this - I will be walking to work until disc arrives.
I was objecting to Premier's allegation that I was advocating illegal actvities - not true.
I was trying to clarify my position.
Thanks for your help.

Yes I did read your first post. The questions you asked were:backinbusiness wrote: »...Questions are two-fold.
1. Should/Can I drive the car in the meantime?
2. What penalties do I run the risk of?
...
It is in relation to both those questions that I advised as I did.
I am glad you have opted to take the advice I gave and have now decided upon not putting the vehicle on a public highway until you are in receipt of a valid tax disc and displaying it on the vehicle."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
They arent little jobsworths, they are doing a legitimate job, finding people who dont or wont pay their car tax.
Its not a case of parking it away OP, all police cars are fitted with number plate recognition apparatus so you could be spotted at any time you are on the road driving it.
Sadly not all Police cars are, however all Police officers are fitted with eyes. What is pi? Where did it come from?0 -

As the op has now renewed his tax, I wouldn't image he would show up on the pnc.If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me0 -
Update.
Applied by 'phone Friday lunchtime.
Disc arrived Wednesday am, and was immediately affixed to windscreen.
(I also received a strongly-worded "Last Chance" letter from the DVLA in the same post.
Thanks for all your input - won't be doing that again.
