Are these people out of work? Who the heck plays music at 4am? I wouldn't play music at 10pm. I guess some people are so far up themselves they dont give a rat @rse about anyone else but themselves. Like I said they must sleep at some point. Maybe its juts me I do try and consider others wouldn't do any drilling or banging after 9pm or under 10am

Just for extra information, I collapsed due to exhaustion as i was not getting enough sleep last month, this was not due to the noise but due to lack of sleep. Now i am afraid this will reoccur as I cant sleep when they put their music on really loud. Wondering if this is more serious, or helps my case in any way.

I can sympathise with you, years ago I had noisy neighbours upstairs, and I started to suffer psychological issues due to lack of sleep (confusion, anxiety, stress etc). It was seriously affecting my work. Can you use ear plugs?

What do these people do for a living? I am guessing they are unemployed.

  • Hi,

We had a problem with next door when the owner rented the house out to Students. There was supposed to be 4 in there but usually there was anything up to 12, and their friends would arrive after the pub shut at around 1am and the partying would start. Never got any sleep, and I was at my wits end.
I solved it by fighting fire with fire.

Everytime they had a party until 4 or 5am I would get a piece of wooden board lean it up against the shared toilet wall and start drilling holes ...at 7am. , ..stop for 30 minutes just enough time for them to get back to sleep and then do it again..every 20 minutes or half an hour for most of the day. It didn't take them long to realise that they were getting no sleep every time they had a party, and within a month the late night music and partying stopped.
Wish you luck, it's a nightmare of a situation for you.

OP, you've already been given all this advice on your other thread on another sub-board.

    Thanks all for the support.

I was advised to post my question in this forum board, rather than the last one, hence having 2 posts. But I did find the information here very useful.

Currently, we are sending a recorded letter to next door, making notes and recording the noise, informing the environmental health, our local MP to get this matter resolved.

I do not want to play fire with fire, yet anyway. I am hoping that our neighbors can come round to accepting that the level of noise that they are making is a nuisance and prevents me and my wife from enjoying our home and most importantly sleep.

Will keep everyone updated as it progresses.
