i have a strange tail to tell
over 5 years ago had 12 month contract with 3mobil.
as far as i remember things were all ok then they sent a bill for nearly 300 quid which i didnt pay as for what ever the reason it wasnt correct. month later contract finished i wrote canceling contract as 12 months had ended.
told them would pay a bill but not that amount as that not right.
long time after [2 years] debit company westcote? said i owed 255 pounds and sent [in another letter] another bill for nearly 1,000:eek: [thats some bill]
i wrote to company in fact not sure but think i took some advise off here.
write to company [west cote] and ask for proof of the credit agreement and proof of the bill.
i did think put other stuff in there [possibley bit of stuff saying if cant prove under sction etc etc ] sorry for the blank bits just cant remember.
thats been over 5 years ago, yesterday a man from provident turned up, saying that they were collecting the debit from 3 mobil, via westcote. I told him the story he said fine we will send it back to them.
I sure i still owe something,
1 can they still chase for it
2 what do i do about 1,000 bit that i dont owe?:cool::cool::rotfl::A

You're post doesn't make a lot of sense, but from what I can make out you didn't pay your final bill with 3 because you disputed the amount. That doesn't mean you don't have to pay, you should have resolved the situation.
As for the £1,000 bill, presumably the extra is admin charges for chasing the debt. The longer you don't pay the higher the bill will go.
Finally, statute of limitations in the UK is 6 years, after this a debt is no longer enforceable.
You should have just sorted this out at the time, why did you think you didn't have to pay anything!?0 -
i did try to sort it out, i wrote to them 3 times i got ffed up with the call centers in india, I was unable to make them see sence.
the guy came with two bills both for a phone. so its not charges!
i never said i was not going to pay i just said the bill was not correct.
and yes i should have chased them not the other way round.0 -
Theres no UK Statute of Limitations - if you are in Scotland it is 5 years, E&W+NI, then it is 6 - which is why they've got an interest in pursuing the matter now.
The good news is if you brazen it out, the debt will become uncollectable. The bad news is your credit record will already be showing a defaut (which is why you were never taken to court, and probably won't be). Find out from your credit file WHEN they defaulted you, as if it was recently, you can challenge this to be backdated - and this will similarly become invisible to anyone checking your file.0
