Ad blocker for IE

From my very brief look, http://www.fanboy.co.nz/ie.html seems to do the job.
The same list/author is used in Adblock plus, but I have no idea how successfully it stays updated, etc. in IE, or whether there are any snags, so some research would be worthwhile.0 -
In all those results, which of those sites and opinions should they trust?
I'm sure the Op is quite capable of using a search engine, but they have come to this forum, where they probably feel they can trust the opinions of the members rather than some random poster on a random site plucked from Google.
The OP is:Can you recommend a free ad blocker for IE?
We find out much later that the OP is forced to use IE to connect to his company's server and he has my sympathy. Maybe he should approach the company for a solution to the problem.
It's all down to not enough info in the original post.

A bit of a curveball answer, but ... what about using Firefox with Adblock+ (which is an obvious answer) ... but ... also using IETab addon for when you need to connect to your company server?

FYI, the company is a large multi-national. In my experience most multi nationals use I.E."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

In my experience most multi nationals use I.E.
A lot of smaller companies do also and whether IE is good, bad or indifferent you only have to mention it to bring the IE haters out of the woodwork all of who will say something like "use Firefox" "you're mad if you use IE" etc etc and they say it endlessly and tediously almost no matter what the original problem is.0 -
Further to my previous response ... it assumes you are allowed to install applications on your PC.
Assuming you are, what about only using IE for accessing company websites, and using another browser for non-company websites? (That's what I do).0 -
Thanks giraffe,
I do not have an issue with phoneguy. I am sure he was trying to help and he was kind enough to appologise for his comments."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Apologies if I said the wrong thing, and casting aside opinions of who said what when may I recommend:
- Contacting your firm's IT department for a solution in the first instance as that is their job. I know from experience they can get uppity if you don't follow the rules but try to be helpful if you are stuck.
- From the days before I used adblock I found the Hosts file fix as recommended by Waddler_8 really good. It does stop 99.9% of ads.
