So are we suggetsing then that paypal becomes compulsory on all auctions and no other payment methods are allowed?....

    Only a matter of time

It was 'optional' to offer Paypal as a payment method - now it is compulsary
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

I always thought that generally sellers were against the idea of paypal being compulsory as the only payment method on ebay, reading this thread I was obviously wrong as it seems that is exactly what people want.

I am virtually paypal only so it wouldn't worry me too much, except that for my collection only items I do at least like to try for cash on collection.

If I sell a BIN with an instant payment, I refund the Paypal when the bring cash on collection. Same for combined payments.....refund the difference.

What happens if they don't bring cash on collection and expect you to honour the sale?

Some people on this thread obviously don't want overseas customers then or the possibility of payments by Bank transfer with no Paypal fees.

I think we should be clear that you are perfectly able to refund the paypal payment and refuse to sell but for the benefit of other sellers reading this - that puts your account at real risk.

If you are serious about selling and not just playing at this then you need to keep your account as safe as you can, and refusing to sell means you are likely to get a neg, poor stars and a complaint made against you. realistically you can get away with this once, maybe even twice and then thats it. You also get to pay your FVFs in full even though the sale has not gone ahead.

I tend to attract good buyers, savvy ones and mine would spot the obvious flaw in the idea suggested above. So they pay by paypal, say £40 and that money comes out of their bank account they then collect in say 5 days time and pay cash- so another £40 out of their bank account. I refund the paypal payment and it takes approx 5 days to clear back into the senders account.

I'm sorry but that is just daft, might as well just not bother selling at all .

Surely wishing buyers to pay within one day of winning isn't an unfair thing?

Yes OK - I have no problem with that as long as sellers are also required to post the the next working day after they receive payment.

No more of having to wait because the seller "only posts once a week". Sounds great to me. :D

Huh? When did I say that I was refunding payment in order to refuse to sell?

Depending on the *quality* of the buyer, if they want to collect and pay cash, I will refund the Paypal straight away. Otherwise will refund the Paypal when they collect. If they want the payment refunded, but dont bring cash alternative, of course Im not giving the item.

I make sure I tell them what the process is for cash on collection in the auction listing, so no surprises.

If you dont like items where "seller only posts once a week" or seller dispatches in 3-4 days, or seller dispatches using second class post, DONT BID
