local exchange recently upgraded to 21cn according to samknows and others - phoned bt yesterday to try to get service upgraded to adsl2+ from current adlsmax - had several answers from their subcontinental ''advisors'' ranging from - your speeds will be same on adsl2+ as adslmax so no point in changing???(why upgraded the exchange then) to denying exchange has been upgraded and saying may happen sometime in future???? obviously no idea what they are talking about - any idea how to confirm exchange has been upgraded to 21cn and then get bt to migrate me onto adsl2+ service?

What speed do you sync at on your existing service, if its way short of 8Mb then an upgrade may not give much extra, in my case I used to sync at 2.5Mb, now get about 3Mb...I was upgraded without asking, just got an email saying when it was going to happen...if its available and you request they upgrade you, then you probably will be deemed to be starting a new minimum term with them, if you go on the BT site what speed estimate does it give for your postcode ? or put the exchange postcode into the checker and see if its over 8Mb, I think the exchange postcode is on the 'sam knows' site0

current profile 6mb/s - sync around 5.5 (altho speed fluctuates from 1mb/s to 5.5mb/s depending on time of day -assume congestion) - downstream attenuation 37db which gives line length of approx 2.7kms (only 1km as crow flies to exchange) so according to checker should get speeds of about 9mb/s on adsl2+ or 50% better plus better upload speeds0
