There is a site dedicated to Sky Broadband at www.skyuser.co.uk
When I moved to Sky broadband from Orange I was without broadband for 3 months.
Is OK now though, I'm on the Mid (£5.00 per month) package and getting just under 8mbps, which compares well with my old Orange package that cost £17.99 per month for 2mbps.
You need to make sure you are on an LLU exchange for the cheap Sky packages, their website will tell you if you can get them. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I should have had Sky Broadband Max connected by the engineer on 15 February but Sky had taken down the MAC incorrectly and therefore it was not done. I have cottacted BT who tell me that I am no longer a customer of theirs for Broadband and therefore they cannot advise me further. Sky have sent a letter saying I will be connected with them on the 26th. I spoke to them on the phone and was told that the date is correct but as the engineer has been once, that is the only time he will call despite the contract with Sky Max for an engineer to connect the service. Meanwhile I am still using Broadband but from whom I have no idea! I assume BT.To Dare is To Do:beer:0

You'll still have 3 months to run on your BT Contract, so its up to you whether you want to pay that off & get your Sky service or fulfill the existing contract with BT & then transfer to sky.0

I recently signed up for sky broadband and was assured it was available in my area and I would only be without internet for 1 hour.
Oh My God, this was not the case.
I could talk for hours about the terrible time I have had with them, so much so that I virtually begged my old provider to take me back.
I am happy to expand if needed but suffice it to say that terrible customer service, Indian call centres and premium rate customer care telephone numbers make this one to avoid!!!!!0 -
Tell me about it, I've had THREE engineers just not turn up from Sky (I've used 3 of my 11 days annual leave for this!!) and now they've finally turned up the !!!!in thing doesn't work! Worse, my first bill is charging me from 11 December even though nobody turned up until 18 February, and in any event I haven't even used it yet I'm still tapping into next doors BB!
I wrote to them, they didn't even offer me so much as a free movie just said "we can assure you it will be sorted out internally".
I'm now writing to say I want it cancelling and all my money refunded since its not for for the purpose intended. I've added up an additional £11 in calls to their 0870 number for assistance.
If anyone knows if I can take any action to recover my losses, please let me know!!!0 -

I have managed to connect my Sky Max as Sky REFUSED to send the engineer back to my home, as per the advert for Sky Max. This was extremely difficult and took two lengthy telephone calls on the 0870 number. The speed is only 6Mb and the connection keeps cutting out. Sky told me in yet another lengthy call to press the reset button in the box and it will be Ok. This works for a while but having to press the reset button a few times each day is not really what I pay £10 per month for!To Dare is To Do:beer:0 -
Following on from my last post on 4 March, I have had a lengthy conversation (yes another one) but this time SKY IT Department rang me. They said that my optimum speed is between 5 and 6 Mb and the reason that the connection keeps cutting out is that I am currently receiving 7.5Mb. They are going to reduce the speed to the optimum and also try to reduce the noise on the line. When I asked if my SKY Max would change to Sky Mid and a £5 reduction in the monthly fee, I was told that it wouldn't as I was on a 12 month contract. This therefore means that I am going to pay £10 for a £5 service. I have expressed my feelings and have been told that someone from the Customer Service Team will contact me. Watch this space for developments:mad:
I wonder, why oh why did I changeTo Dare is To Do:beer:0 -
You will find that your upload speed is faster on the Max package than it is on mid and you have unlimited down loads.
You may be able to improve your performance yourself, have a look at these articles.

You may wish to post your router stats on the skyuser site, before you do read this:
