**************on advice, am moving message to lpg sticky*********
Hi,

I am staggering from the latest price increase from Flogas putting my bulk LPG upto 75p per litre (78.75p inc VAT).

Price has just gone up by another 6p litre.

I am not in contract as I do not want to commit to any company as I am very seriously considering swapping to Air Source or similar.

What are you paying for your bulk LPG? (I am in Devon).

Kind regards

  • I've not filled our LPG tank for a year now as moved to ASHP. The last fill for us was something like low 40s and I thought that was stupidly expensive. The bulk tank is still there and used for hob only till it runs out in about 10 years!

But yes at these prices renewables makes a lot of sense.

    Cheers
  • and we paying about £100 a year to Flogas for the tank!!
  • £16.33 a quarter to Calor for the tank :(
  • I have just moved in to a house with LPG. Calor supplied the tank and gas to the previous owners. I had Calor around to give me a quote etc and sort out the service contract. My initial tank full was an introductory offer at just over 40p a Ltr. I have just signed up to pay 48p a Ltr fixed for 3 months...and then it will only rise by a max of 3.5p a Ltr over 3 months. The tank costs us £90 a year.
    Is that good?
I downloaded a paper from lpg solutions which talks about getting the right supplier and how the competition commission has made it easier to switch suppliers. I have not read all of the info on the site but I will do. Good luck

48p not including vat on Bp in gloucestershire area. Expect prices to fall later in the year as china slows down and winter demand falls. I always fill in August and am using around 30% annually of a 2000 litre tank at the mo. I live in a big detached, bUt I insulated it to the hilt last year, 70mm celotex internal on solids, cavity fill on the cavity and 500mm above ceilings. toastie.

43p with a local company, always cheaper than a national.
  • so that confirms it - it's official - I am being completely ripped off by Flogas at 75 pl plus VAT

Yes! Currently from my local independent I'm paying 46ppl. Trouble is, he only delivers locally
  • Am also being ripped off by Flogas as will be paying 55p/litre now. They had written to say it would be increased to 59.38 and I told them that as a pensioner, I coudn't afford it and would freeze this winter. My neighbour pays Flogas 43.50. Apparently it dpends on when your contract was taken out!

I have written to OFT to complain about the lack of transparency on pricing. Other companies' contracts stipulate that they can only increase prices by a certain amount over the term of the contract, but Flogas don't. My increase in a year would have been 22%. The man from Flogas put it all down to increased wholesale price they have to pay, but it's clearly not a level playingfield.
