Finished a nice Sunday on 6.826 kWh / 1.71 ho's.
Same again tomorrow please!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0 -
That seems to be what I would be looking for. What does it involve and where can I get it?
What advice can you give. Would it effect the Solar edge monitoring that I have?
Well I started with the Wattson Solar kit, which consists of a pair of current clamps, a transmitter & a receiver display. Had that for 3 & a half years now with no issues. I think this kit is somewhere around £100 or so. Can be purchased online from Wattson website or on eBay.
I upgraded recently via the energyhive website, adding the energyhive hub which was £29.99 which plugs in to your home broadband and automatically connects itself to your wattson and transmits the data online.
I know nothing about the solar edge monitoring, so I can't answer that sorry.0 -
Only checked the SSW today which managed 1.65 O's. Pretty pleased with that as we woke to snow covered panels. Is no one else getting any snow?, why is it only exclusive to me....I don't mind sharing!!!2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0

Our 4 year anniversary comes up about now: 10,378 units generated. Not bad! (3kw system). well on our way to paying back the cost through FITS in about 8 years total, possibly a bit less. Very glad we invested!0

Is no one else getting any snow?
Lots has fallen here. Fell for 3 hours continous early yesterday, but it was 2C, so too warm to pitch. As soon as the cloud clears then the temperature plummets and everywhere is covered in ice. Lots of near misses.
Another showery week in store too by the looks of it, although today could be a reasonable PV day.0 -
For those with energyhive / Wattsonanywhere:
I raised a support ticket yesterday asking about the "How do you compare" figures as they are so ridiculously broken it's a waste of screen space.
My "average import" is higher than even my highest import day this month, so it can't be an average and the "average similar household" figure hasn't changed in days.
I've also asked them to clarify the figures are actually based on import, not consumption otherwise for anyone with any sort of diverter it won't reflect correctly anyway.
I know it's petty, but if it's on the dashboard it should at least work correctly.
I've just had a response on this:
"[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Hi Andy,
sorry for the late reply.
You are right. It is supposed to say Usage instead of Imported. This was a error which has been fixed.
The number compare your usage regardless of the source of the power (generated or imported), It put in you in a specific category with other people who has similar or close values of consumption to yours.
Hope that helped in clearing the picture.
Kind regards

They have indeed changed the wording on the website now - however, IMO comparing consumption is meaningless with all the diverters in place - ie people heating water tanks with "spare" electric rather than gas, or in my case using spare electricity to run the underfloor heating, rather than the more efficient heat pump.
Oh well, I shall continue to ignore the comparison figures.0 -

I shouldn't get too despondent Andy: What Tariq is saying does make sense. As an example - In December my daily usage was 9.32 kW on average: yet I was only charged for a daily usage of 5.54 kW. This bears out pretty close to the figures on "Wattson at Home".............

Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax:
Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).0 -

I agree the figures add up, but they're pointless. I want to compare my import to other households - then I can see the true saving offered by the solar and using the excess to run the UFH. As it is, the sunnier it is, the more power I use - rather than running the more efficient heat pump, so while my bills are lower the numbers will make my "usage" look horrendous.
It should at least be something we can select in the user control panel - which is what I've written back and requested.0 -
Another good day today.
