Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

Today could have been so great !
Started generating at 05:50 and the clear blue cloudless sky promised so much. Alas, power cut struck at 06:45 and lasted till 11:35 ; not a flicker of cloud visible during the period.
From power restored till a few minutes ago we'd managed 17.25 kWh - which is in itself better than an average July pvgis forecast. In that period yesterday we'd generated 9Kwh and I really think today was far sunnier than yesterday so my 'entitlement' would have been at least 26 kWh and probably a couple more.
Another power cut has just happened. Here's hoping it's fixed by morning !
Apart from today's disaster, this week has been pretty good :-23rd 25.56

hi
15.33kwh today, bit more then yesterday. The shade from the treei s there till 11am. oh well...

The decline continues - cloud-free again but slightly higher temperatures and slightly less daylight so 12.31kWh vs 12.49 yesterday.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0

You wouldn't have reached even 26 kWh because I had unbroken sunshine virtually all day (unlike yesterday) yet production was down to 25.79. I think it must have been a fair bit hotter today.0 -
We managed 25.36Kwh today... that's down from 26.48 for yesterday. Not sure how much of that was down to the heat or down to the fact that I turned Optitrac on to reduce the effect of some early morning shading....0

I am with Kernal on this one, far too hot today. The decline continues - cloud-free again but slightly higher temperatures and slightly less daylight so 12.31kWh vs 12.49 yesterday.
Think you are bang on with your analogy, hence my figures bear this out. Look forward to freezing October, cloud free days:rotfl:.Kernel_Sanders wrote: »You wouldn't have reached even 26 kWh because I had unbroken sunshine virtually all day (unlike yesterday) yet production was down to 25.79. Quite correct Kernel: todays high was 27.6C @ 16:37; yesterday 25.6C @ 16:36.
Hence I made 16.8kWh today compared to 17.5kWh yesterday; even though the hours of sunshine were exactly the same today as yesterday; 11.18 hrs. I would guess it was just as sunny in Sheffield (Shafeeg) but not as warm as yesterday. Sheffield has some advantages then? :rotfl:;)2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. Our peak day was 24.4kWh or 6.6kWh/kWp. We haven't had a whole years generation but PVGIS prediction is 827kWh/kWp.
Because of our SE orientation we will never be as good as a due South system.

I have managed to top 25 exported units twice in late May and again circa 21 June.
Tuesday total only 23.66.
The panels were a bit later starting today Wednesday. I am wondering if the build up of brown tinged fug over the Olympics might be a factor.
[Obviously nothing like as bad as the Beijing Olympics, where the city was "turned off" and the clouds seeded to clear the fug.

It sure does, I live there.
Back to normal weather... cloudy... but warm.

Tuesday total only 23.66.- A generation meter records all power generated from a PV system.
- An export meter records all excess power sent back to the grid if it is not used in the property.
All PV systems have a generation meter. Very few have an export meter. Exported power will always be less than generated power.Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0
